Hey everybody!

Posting on behalf of a friend who has a 1998 EK4 VTi. He's in the market for a induction for his Civic and has asked to me to ask on here which is the most worth while induction kit to go for. Options are ITG Maxogen which as far as I'm aware is supposed to give good gains similar to a Mugen airbox.

The Mugen airbox doesn't need explaining, good noise, looks gains etc. J's I'm not so sure about apart from the brutal noise. Pound for pound which is the best option? I'm talking noise, engine bay looks, cost and of course performance gains. IMO the ITG or Tegiwa Mugen rep are the ones to go for, however which is the best on balance?

Cheers

I vote for Mugen Airbox,
Powerwise it showed very good gains on dyno. I cutout the black plastic in the bumber (facelift) so the snorkel pointet direct at the hole, so cooler air came in. And it got a velocity stack just at the filter :nice:

Mugen, then the ITG...keep away from the j's thing they are the biggest over rated pieces of shyyte ever.

Mugen wins in gains, looks and sound [personal preference right...lol]. Also wins in the highest price category hands down. :drive:
Money well spent tho!

mugen = torque ,j.s make the same power as just having a open t body on a dyno they are crap just gud for noise

I have the maxogen fitted to my nine at the mo.

It has given me a nice boost in the midrange which helps with everyday driving, gives a nice tone without being mega loud prob not much louder than stock.

A direct cold air feed helped massively as well

The maxogen is also made for a uk spec vti and I think a good alternative to mugen for half the price.

The only problem I had is it does catch on the engine mount but I fixed this by drilling a new mounting hole on the fixing bracket and some rubber gromits to lift it slightly.

I don't have any experience with mugen box but everyone raves about it so it must be good. :nice:

i had a J's rep on my vti.....i binned it and bought a Mugen airbox....end of really

cheers guys, based on this he is more than likely going for the Mugen airbox. Also, any time frame on the Tegiwa Mugen EK replica? I'd be very interested in one.

Had a ITG, sold it to a mate, very well made piece of kit. Have the Mugen now. Don't buy replica's, a decent replica that fits and performs will cost as much as the real deal.

Mugen Intakes new are easy £600+ nowadays. And there are no more used ones coming in the country.

Another very good intake set up is a dc2 airbox with a cold air feed added and the resonator removed. The dc2 airbox also makes use of a cone filter as stock and is a cheap method.
