Doing a head re-build on a B16a Ek4 SiR,

Running Spoon cams and management at the moment with other standard internals,

would using ITR valves/dual valve springs/retainers be a good upgrade?

Would any additional work need to be carried out to run them?

Thanks,

Sami

im sure they would handle it bud. but would put up rated ones in to be on the safe side. dont think spoon cams are that much more aggressive than standard. its the fact you are prob going to be reving to near 9k rpm with spoon ecu

Sir engine will only have dual springs on one side (can't remember if it's inlet or exhaust) but ITR / CTR have dual on both sides

especially if you are running spoon cams i'd advise upgrading to at least ITR springs, i'd even be inclined to run aftermarket springs/retainers!

they're on the intake side only on the SiR. It's rumoured that you can use SiR intake valve springs and use them on the exhaust side to replicate the "itr" internals but I dunno how much I can trust that info.

Cool thanks, the reason i'm using ITR is because my mate already has them for a build he was going to do so i can easily get them and at a very decent price! Thinking of using and Ek9 Inlet Mani and Throttle Body too, is this a decent upgrade over the SiR ones? thanks for your help guys

If you're in a bit of a cash crunch you can do this "mod" you suggested and only buy the ITR/CTR specific intake springs while moving the SiR intakes to the exhaust.

I would advise updating the LMAs as well and perhaps going as far as replacing the valve stem seals during this refresh.

Sorry dude, what's an LMA?

Every gasket and seal will be replaced whilst doing this buile mate including stem seals :)

Wow! The first sentence in that got me listening haha, i've had my valve clearances adjusted twice now lol!! Awfully exoensive though "/

it's not a difficult process to learn, you should be able to pick it up yourself.
