Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Yes the next test is likely 1st of June, unless I can get on sooner.

Only had like half an hour on the car so no videos just yet.
Made a few changes to the vtec fuel map around the 1.4bar boost area and gave the engine it's first hit at this pressure.
Only pulled up to 7.5k rpm as I was running out of bravery, watching the AFRs whilst the engine is pulling hard in 4th is abit sketchy.
Engine held a solid 11.8 AFR upto the region where I let off. Could do with afew % more fuel at this sort of pressure/power really so that's the first change I'll make. I'm pretty sure it would have held 11.8 all the way or perhaps richened up abit after the 8k mark but i need to be careful of the stock valve springs with so much boost pressure so its probably a good thing I didn't rev it right out anyway.
It's becoming more clear as the power increases that i need to try and respect the suggested limits of the setup(sleeves and valve springs currently) but pushing my luck and the tune is too easy when you are your own tuner....
Someone else's car is a different story really as your wanting to make good power but reliability/engine limits come first. If this was someone else's car I'd be suggesting a minimum of a valve train upgrade (springs, retainers and possibly a stronger valve) and maybe CSS (cylinder support system) or Darton sleeves to further the power potential of the setup. So I should probably start taking my own advice here, although a sleeved block isn't on the cards at all really so that will be an internal struggle with myself for a while until I decide to just crank the boost up and see what happens lol

The setup currently makes 1 bar of boost before 5k rpm so leaves me with over 4k of 1 bar goodness before I hit the redline. I've not tried to pull this spool time down yet and it does start to drop abit of boost as you reach the higher rpms, this is where the larger exhaust housing would have benefited the setup but I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve for this issue.
I think I'll start refining the setup of the lower boost levels rather than push for more boost just yet. Although knowing the fueling is good for 1.4bar is mega tempting lol

Sorry for the full on story of my life post, no pictures sucks I know!

Yeah man. It's pulling me all over the road in 4th. Defo a two hands on the wheel job!
Don't even want to try and guess the power it was making lol

100000 smile per hour :))
Will be interesting to get her on a dyno.

Very cool jesse ! Very interesting stuff.

Keep up the good work mate .

Noticed a coolant leak yesterday. Hoping it's not the radiator because everything on that is custom now. So I can't just bolt a new one in.
Will investigate some more today.

Thats the worst about custom stuff , not readily available and a pain to put right .
But hope it's only something small to fix .

JB weld and you be grand , seen people use that stuff on engine blocks with good results!

My buddy can weld but I'm not sure if he's up to the challenge of putting a new core in my rad!

I can't remember for sure Jesse, but did we actually modify the rad at all? Seem to remember it just being new mounts on the car itself.

We had the oil cooler mounts on it and I believe one mount either side to fix it to the bumper bar.
Getting the same rad again is likely to leave me in the same position. Just a **** radiator I think lol

Had a look about and half my rad clips had come a little loose. So that explains that hopefully.
Checked my aem wideband against my new innovate one again on idle and the aem still reads half a lambda point richer, that's 0.7-8 AFR points. I thought I'd fixed it but clearly not. As long as I account for this it's not going to matter too much anyway.

Ahh yes the oil cooler mounts! The actual rad mounts were bosses that were already there. We just added the chassis-side mount

So not much to add really. Been ringing around some local dynos trying to get dyno time. Going to hit up eurospec tomorrow and hope I come up trumps there.

Purchases!
Now the marshals at brands never fail to complain about my lack of tow hook on the front of the car, I tell them bumper comes off in seconds, then they take it to the head marshal, who always let's it go anyway.... everytime.
So I've out a stop to that with this bad boy tow hook! Btcc level bro!
Also bought a VP fuels refueler like a full on trackday hero!

Looks a little ridiculous fitted but once I've remade my splitter it should look OK.

In other news I noticed the boost pressure has blown the top clean off my carbon canister thing.

I'll probably delete it if this keeps happening as that's annoying.
Messed about with the map somemore (because I can) not tested yet but it's there.

No point moaning about the marshals. What if the car needs towed but you are not there to whip the bumper of in seconds?

I think we both know this is unlikely.
I didn't mean to come across as I was moaning about them, but I guess I was abit.

You never know.
However the towing eye you have bought looks like it might work on my project.
