Jesse888's ek9 build thread

Little bump for the detailing today.

Bump for headlight restoration and engine bay cleaning.

Thanks guys. I'm chuff with how the headlights came out, I thought they had gone too far to save them but they've come up almost new lol

Ordered some sheet ally for my airdam/splitter project, hopefully I can make it look neat but still be functional. First test is likely to be 25th march at brands so time will tell on that.
Need to sort out a gash I've put on my OEM front lip. Taken the paint off and really let's the car down now.

I would not paint the air dam, leave it raw, its going to get abuse. Cant chip paint if there is none to chip.

That is a good point. Function only which is what im aiming at with this car but can't help try and dress it up abit lol
Don't want a silver airdam messing up my track photos lol

Perhaps. Is extra cost tho isn't it compared to abit of paint I've got in the garage. Can touch the stone chips up if it bothers me enough

paint it! lol
be sure to seal it to the splitter. Dont want any air getting under it.

...Just a thought.
Maybe you could install the air dam behind the OEM front lip, hide the metal air dam behind the oem lip in other words.

One long track day and it will need a full respray ^^^

Loving the cleaning, nothing wrong with keeping a racecar clean, in the trade we call it the "Bullshit Shine" looking fast is half the battle

:nice:

airdam/front splitter looks amazing, great work mate

Perhaps your right. I was thinking it would be just like the front of a normal car with a couple of stone chips here and there.

The OEM paint process will be alot more hard wearing than anything you will be able to recreate with a rattle can if you know what i mean.

I would go for some standard Matt or satin black vinyl, easy to put on and replace when its too stone chipped, and allows you to change colours if you want to get the Lairy track look going on over the summer track sessions.

Yeah that makes sense. I'll see if I can find some white wrap to do it.

Found out the brakes where ruined!

Okay so got the brakes sorted. Well as far as I know.
Fitted
Mtec disc front and rear
Ebc yellows front and rear( used these plenty of times never an issue)
Front calipers rebuilt.
Rear calipers checked and regreased the sliders
HEL braided lines front and rear

Looking pretty good hopefully I can stop on track now.

Also just ordered hardrace bushes so will be doing full rebush throughout April.
No pictures of the brakes yet unfortunately.
Meanwhile you may have noticed the kanjo thread that's doing the rounds ATM.
Well I've been inspired by these cars and said that I would make myself a template so I can spray my track wheels with the yoko advan logos.
Here is the template

Bushes are all but done now. Didn't get pictures, the job was long enough as it was lol
Painting the underside of the car with hammerite this weekend hopefully, give it some rust protection.
Will get some pics of the brakes when I do the hammerite.
So been tackling the underside and arches of the car this week.
De-rusting and then painting in hammerite smooth white.

Finished all the rust proofing, looks really fresh under there now. Really happy with it.

Had some spare cash and time and thought of make something abit one-off. Coz I like to feel special like that lol
This idea came from Matt-ek9 when I showed him my new intake setup(just took air box off dc2 setup. His comment was that's going to be useless on track, you should make some sort of airfeed for it. Perhaps through the light?
Sort bought a spare headlight from a scraper ad this happened

Finished in championship white with a big old hole at the back.
Will get fitted pictures soon enough.

Then while the paint was out this happened
