Just Tested The New Box !!!!


ooohhh you got quite a moded B18 setup.

it makes sense now, Like you said I would have thought a B16B would struggle with a high final drive, nevermind 1st.

I only have a personal best with the STANDARD b16b - It was 14.61 at 97mph..
The reason I went for the 4.05 was with my ratio's and the standard 4.4 FD I would be limiting at 102mph in 4th gear, I should be reaching more than that with my spec - Roughly 108 - 110 mph. The less gearchanges in a race benifits overall time, therefor with the 4.4 I would need 5th gear just before the finish line.. Lol thats the method behind my madness, ohh the 4.05 tops out 4th gear at 112mph - Near perfect !!

I cant see you going anywhere near 108-110mph, on the 1/4.
Even with your new box and B18 setup.

Theres a few cars that go to Crail that are FWD, and the ones that go quick 110mph + have alot of power and usually Turbo.
Even the lad in his K20 rarely goes above this.

Will wait and see though. ;)

yeah i can second his personal best with that standard b16b spoon exhaust and STANDARD manifold cause i was there .

if u read wat he says he didnt want to be limiting at 102 mph in 4th so he opted for a diff 4th gear to allow more speed in 4th . nothin was mentioned about doing 110mph down the quarter mile . please correct me if im wrong . im sure haribo1187 wouild second me on that .

but after being with him all wkend in the car and seeing wat a difference in power is now. im sure everyone is going to be surprised by wat times he is going to get down the quarter . but as said time will tell eh .

all i can say is this setup has made the car crazy . u have def done well with this andy . cant wait to see the times at crail providin its a good day .

I see where your coming from, alot of TURBO cars regulary hit 110+ - However with the new diff and longer 1st gear I think my 60 ft times should be greatly reduced improving my top speed. The reason I think I should be up near or arround 110 is my b16b could run constant teminal speeds of 97 - 98 mph. There is no way with my new set-up and gears I will only be doing 4 mph more than standard !!!!

My 14.6 was with a spoon N1 only, no manifold, standard tyres, OEM CAT. I really hope its a dry day and not too much of a head wind. I will be sure to post up the time sheets no matter what the results. Lol the thing is tho no matter HOW much it costs I will run 12's in that car N/A. If it means pulling the block again for 14.1 CR Pistons and Rods then so be it..

Kamakazi I will be happy to take you for a spin in the car if you give me your number and are local. I see your just abit optimistic.

Yeah cheers for the kind comments john, I really think the car has potential of some quick times aswell mate. Even if it runs 17 seconds !! I will still be happy with it, it looks sounds and drives amazing !!

:shocked: lol well 11/10 for determintion anyway. Glad to hear it's up and running and going well, just hope weather holds up for next sunday mate and you get in some good times

Yeah the gears are amazing mate !! - Really improve 3rd and 4th gear !! Not to mention the 50mph in 1st !! Whooop !! lol..

Motorway driving isnt the greatest lol - mega loud ! :secret: lol

Firstly, Congrats to your build! I've always wanted to do a longer 1st gear but 50mph is pretty damn long.

Trap speed tends to be a bit funny sometimes. Our Local times are;

B20 Ek that has done 13.5 @ 106mph on semi slick,
K20A EG 12.378 sec @ 109mph on slicks
K24vtec EG civic that has hit 11.823 @ 113.6mph on slicks

Not easy hitting 110, but it would be interesting to see your times with the new box.

You do realise that your trap speed reduces when the 60ft is improved...
Regardless of what your car done before is pointless here.
Getting 4/5mph is harder than you think, its not just about power.
I can assure you on that.
