What is the most cost effective way of getting more power doing a K20 swap of boosting a b16? Who offers the best turbo kit for the money and are you looking at over 4k for a k20 swap?

What do people think is the best who has experience with either?

I think its about 8k for a kswap mate. If your keeping standard internals then boosting would be cheaper i would think.

wow 8k is alot for an engine swap think boosting will be the way forward, who does the best kit?

ebay has lots of cheap kits but not too sure about running cheap chinese turbos anyone had experience with them hear lots of horror stories about them

N/A anyday. :win:

But most cost effective way for power is a turbo.

turbo > na IMO

Greater in cost, upkeep and maintenance, for sure.
Not very good at all on a road course, for sure!
Greater number of oil changes.
Greater number of headaches.

GREAT for a drag race tho! :)

B18C-R with LSD dif. close ratio gearing...done and done.

Not to sure were you got this for 8k:nono: i have just be ofter to do a k20 swap in my ek4 for £2500 inclueing the engine and box and all the fitting part that are needed.

know what you are think it is going to be a engine with high mileage and very think else but if you hurt around you can find k20 engines and boxs for pennys now.

so for me it is going to be a k20 swap very soon :D

One positive to the K swap, the engine sits over the front axles more than the B's do.

I just hate how off center the K's sit left to right in the engine bay. Wonder if this helps corner weights on either left or right hand drive civics?

dunno where your getting it for this price but some parts prices

k100/kpro - 400 to 800
mounts - 450 ish
shafts - 400ish
manifold - 400ish

thats 1600 already.

If u want to turbo charge just dont cut corners to do it cheap. Invest in a really good kit which will last otherwise u going be out alot more money

B18CR (small mods)+ LSD + Closer ratio box (e.g jus a 4.785 or 4.923 FD from Mfactory)
MFactory Competition Products - Forged Transmission Components

Unless your planing on traveling more than 140mph Id say this is the least hastle, least expensive, least maintenance and is the most stealth as you'll be keeping a prity much standard appearing engine bay :naughty:

Plus cruising at 75-80mph ur still only going to be sat at around 4300-4700rpm. so aint to bad.

Well thats my plans anyhu :))

with 5k vtec and 4.785 FD my top cruising speed is like 74 mph aha :(

i would get his number but i leave this card in my car but will post it tomorrow. i though it was cheap but i seen him at brands on tues and he done it to his eg civic and it was amazing really clean and tidy work and boy it was quick:secret: :D

I did look into the K20 swap at one point...I ran a total up to $5K USD/3.3 GBP.
This was about 1 year ago, prices may vary...lol

The issues I was looking at is the shifter mainly...not many good conversion solutions at that time.

Anywho--ending up with the B18C was the best cost effective solution. More reliable over a turbo. NA K20 vs NA B18C is a close race for sure.
