Interested to see what speed some of you are getting threw each gear. And what mods u have. Il start -

Standard b16a2 engine
Long reach induction kit
S80 gearbox
Mugen manifold
Buddy club decat
Spoon n1 style back box
Ngk spark plugs leads
1st gear 0-35
2nd gear 35-56
3rd gear 56-80
Dunno 4th or 5th

Mods won't change what speed you get in each gear. That is determined by the actual gears and final drive of the box :)

The only mod that would increase the gearing would be if the limiter was raised :nice:

Yeah I know mods just get us there quicker. Was a double question lol.
What engine mods?
And what Box fd etc and a gear limiter speed

Different speeds with different gearing Yeah? No?
Don't know much about gearing etc that's why am asking.

Pretty sure if my memory serves me correctly, my old preface ek4 with s4c(4.4fd) was

1st?
2nd?
3rd 85ish
4th 119
5th 148 on the limiter (sat navigation)

This^ and bigger/smaller tyres will change the gearing slightly aswell.
Gear calculator is best bet, speedos can be out a fair bit the faster you go.

Thread revival
Im running a s80 box (4.4 i think), my car accelerates really quickly from 1st to 3rd hitting the limiter really at 9100rpm and feels like theres so much more to give as its still making power.
Ive been thinking of raising my limter, is this wise to do and reliable. Will i gain anything or really not worth it.

I cant afford gearing at the moment so thats out of question.

Heres what the calculator looks like for my car

I would leave your limiter set were it's normally set ,
Most cases, when people raise rev range they are not making any more power , only putting unnecessary strain on the drivetrain , your tuner will be the only person to answer that for sure when getting car tuned ,

depending which car your s80 came from your ratios on that list are wrong.
The dc2 4.4 s80 ratios are below
1st gear Ratio 3.23
2nd gear Ratio 2.105
3rd gear Ratio 1.458
4th gear Ratio 1.107
5th gear Ratio 0.848
Final Drive Ratio 4.4

Fair point pal, its actually my tuner who has recommended raising it to 9300-9500 but im not so sure. Thing with the way my car is all its power is high up the rpm range, it never falls out of vtec when shifting and you got to be on the ball all the time to get anywhere.

I will put these figures in the calculator thanks mate.

Please note below figures are in km/h. Gearbox is a 98' spec s80 (4.7FD) with 4th and 5th s4c shortened gears and rev limiter raised to 9100rpm, remapped with an AEM v2 ECU. Tyre size 195/55-15.

1st 65
2nd 103
3rd 147
4th 195
5th never got that far lol

Cheers for this, what box are you running pal you must be running out of gears lol.

I'm not entirely sure mate! It's an s4c LSD box, it's marked as such but it has an aftermarket diff. No paperwork or record of it came with the car so I have no idea whats in there. Off side diff bearing is on its way out so we will find out soon enough lol.

That looks more normal to me, the other one was really long.
What's your spec to be making power over 9100?
Stock b16b as far as i know mileage less than 65k, with just breathing mods.
ITR Airbox and Aem v2 for summer (revs even more)
ITR 98 Jdm 4-1 Header
BC straight through exhaust
AEBS Polished inlet manifold larger than stock with larger throttle body.

Cars nothing special i think of it as stock in comparrison to everyone elses on here.

Still on stock cams and valvetrain? I wouldn't be going near 9500 on stock valvetrain. I'm sure you would be getting very close to valve float at anything over 9k.
