Loads of B20 Information

I'm in deep **** already :nerv:

Anyway, thanks for the great info and i'll figure out the CR later. But I totally don't know if I should keep building this B20 then.

Do you know any shop in Hong Kong is reliable?

I know of a shop in Heng Fa Chuen that is good.... but in terms of actual theory in practice, I can't think of any in HK that can spec out a good B-vtec motor without the customer having to do and verify each equation.

In short, there are some good ASSEMBLY shops - but you're going to have to roll the dice to deal with B20 idiocy. Are you even having the crank girdle installed?

Spoonson, you are back. Where did you go all this time?

Putting a B20 in your Civic is heading into "towed" territory and ever since the illegal race incident most Civic EKs are pulled over and engines checked...

As for the B20 mods, no-one in HK can do it properly, the ones i know all blew up. You could try D2 racing they are good with B series. With HDI closed, you will find it extremely difficult to find a good tuner to tune it properly on the street.

I am surprised as ragingangel said, how can they just mill 1mm why not 5mm for good measure, slap the cam timing say, +2 -5 and it will be very fast.

i notice in the above write up that it failed to mentioned some head works. the vtec hole of head must be closed otherwise oil will spill out and leak all over , this vtec hole is no longer needed as a new vtec line (external) is connected from the block to head

Ya, i'm back. Did nothing in this period since I'm thinking of selling my EK for a FD2 after my daughter born. Well, the plans dropped, and my passion came back so i decided to give my baby a new engine.

Ya, i knew I'll get in trouble with this engine in HK. But after all these years modifying the B16A, I really want to have a taste for a 2.0 vtec. I totally have no idea with the mill head thing. I was asking the mechanic i'm getting the RS itr piston, but he told me is not necessary, not the piston, also the ARP head stud and bolts. And he told me mill 1mm of the head will give my B20 enough CR for running mid level cam, at least is good enough for the Toda A. He sounds very skillful until everything is finished, I asked him about what CR my engine is? He told me he has NO answer....

Yes, unfortunately HDI is closed!! (damnit) But I'm still in contact with Eric and will ask him to tune my car at outside dyno machine (ie.: Crazy racing may be). But will not tune it until I found a good set of cam.

P.S: Eric asked us to come out for gathering once, you have time coming days for a meet? I would love to know about the cam gear (+2, -5) setting thing too!

Finally!! I wondered where you were. Good to catch up here..HDI is closed but yeah, Eric can tune at CR. Thats where I did it..do you have the FC-power edit software? You aren't going to tune it via the gameboy are you???

FC-power edit software?

Last time Eric tuned my car via gameboy only. And i expect he will do the same if tuning at CR?

Seriously the gayboy (no pun intended) is pretty lame when you've got the full meal deal FC-edit... just ask EK4_SIR how much more effective it is.... he's working up to be quite the Power FC tuner himself... ;)

Hey just read through this and various other threads, excellent info!!:) very interested in going down this route in the future! :)

What bhp, whp, torque is achievable with the stock B16B head and my current set up of j's intake with custom heatshield 90mm cold air feed with comptech box, lighweight flywheel, spoon 4-2-1, custom de-cat and tanabe SMR exhaust? may get bigger injectors, better intake mani and TB. I would most likely get it tuned by Will on S300.

how reliable is the B20 build if done properly with the girdle, etc? I would be using this as a daily runner with the occasional drag and track. Would the 4.9 FD work well with the
B16B/B20 combination? what B20 do you recommend?

I need some advice here.

Currently i'm running with Toda A camshaft for my B20. I was thinking of changing it to Toda B (i got a good deal from my friend) but i don't know whether I invest for other brands with better outcome.

Any comments?

find out what your compression is to begin with.

There's no point in going with bigger cams if you simply do not have the compression to support it.

You WILL gain power from going to a larger cam but at the expense and loss of bottom end torque...which is kind of the main reason of going 2.0L in the first place right?

Is true for what you are saying.

Let say the CR is around 10.5, which camshaft will give me more power than the Toda A? (I want to keep my rpm below 8.5K). Any good suggestions?

By the way, some suprising result when testing with my friend's Imprezza WRX (stock GRD) & Evo. 9 (exhaust, straight pipe) last weekend. We started from 60km (2nd gear) to 180km. I went passed the WRX in the 3rd gear and was getting head to head with the Evo. 9!!

hye guys....

i'm planning on building b20 engine....
my current engine is b16b...

here's the stuff :
1.skunk2 pro series stage 3 cam+valve spring+retainer (complete cam stuff)
2.porting & polish head
3.CRV block with 85mm wiseco or supertek forged piston
4.h22a injector
5.Aem/toda adjustable cam pulley
6.OS Giken clutch
7.Skunk2 pro series intake
8.2.5" piping

Is there's anything that i need to add?
i need your comment on this

HAHA, just had alook at this, The first page is a copy and paste from MY original "How to build a B20" thread on CRX-UK its changed a little since then mind so it could do with being updated.

sound like a good build with to me, estimating 220-230 whp with 160-170 lbs/ft of torque i suppose with a good tune :drive:

I doubt 230WHP tbh, torque sounds about right though, i would expect a REAL 210WHP/250fly HP

what max hp can 0bd2 h22a 280cc take?
is it worth getting the complete engine rotating assembly done?
