bought a full mocal oil cooler setup and went to fit it last night,i found a good place for it but the cooler isnt upright its upside down would this make any difference to it functioning as i no people mount them on there side.

It's better to mount with outlets on top especially if running non thermostat sandwich plate as if you mount it with outlets on bottom then the oil will drain back out of the cooler when you turn off engine and then obviously it has to fill the cooler again when engine starts which causes a oil pressure drop in the engine

He is running a thernostatic sandwich plate, so can it be run upside down??

recomended by mocal to run them either the right way round or on their side

i drilled though the front lower crossmember and made up some brackets to mount it off the bumper bar, just remember wherever you mount it to use rubber washers at the mounting point to damp vibrations, otherwise can risk damaging the cores in the cooler

the lines you can run over the top of the cambelt side engine mount easy enough

perfect location for a cooler as it is exposed to the full mouth of the front bumper for air flow, will be similar on your dc2

where did you get your 90deg fittings on the cooler? are they 1/2bsp?
and also can you remember ruffly the lenght of braded line you used, to same me ordering loads. would be great if you could help!!! thanks

Mines mounted where the aircon rad used to sit behind the grille. Uniterupted airflow and less likely to get damaged by stones or road kill :)
You should ALWAYS use a thermostatic
Plate on a road/track car imo

yh running a good set-up now using a mocal 13 row were the old ac rad was and is getting full flow of air its working great with the thermostatic sandwich plate

they were -8 AN JIC fittings

-8 or -10 is best to use for oil lines
