Alright guys, I have bought a Mugen intake recently from Jap performance parts, it was removed from a DC2 apparently, even has a sticker on it from when it was removed confirming it was from a DC2.

But being a Gen.1 I can find very little info on it, and teh internetz is luring me towards the fact I have an EK9 intake. So anyone know/confirm if these are the two bolt holes that the gen.1 one uses to mount onto the chassis because this is where mine should line up after some ghetto measurements. I'm beginning to believe that the gen.1 intake for the DC2 is a myth after more research?

My shield is similar to this.

My intake.

Any help is appreciated, I would try and fit it, but I have fitted a Gen.2 on my dads DC2 and there is a bit of work would rather find out if I have the right intake first.

****, What makes you say that mate out of curiosity?

100% Ek9 mugen intake bud, they are a completely different design unfortunately

See, I have my suspicions still even though I think you guys are probably right although:

"There is a 96 spec dc2r non-abs mugen intake, looks a lot like the EK one. Old and rare as hell, you're better off with the regular DC2R one anyway."

I'm putting a new radiator in the car this weekend, so I'll give it a bash anyway I think, the fact the 2 bolt holes line up two in the car makes me curious especially one being where the OEM intake mounts to, if not I'll have a very nice EK mugen intake forsale and just get the Gen.2 style one.

The sheet metal "splash guard" you pictured differs from one on my EK4 so i say if thats part of the kit then its DC2 fitment.

EK4/9 fitment`s heat shield is flat with no bends, only pic is this i have of my own....

EK4/9 Intake when i got it new....

Hole spacing on the bracket definitely looks different on mine. Fingers crossed! Thanks for that rick!

I never knew that the intake you bought was intended for a non-abs teg but you learn something new everyday I guess

I fitted a DC2 mugen style intake to my old EK9 so you should be able to make it work either way

I drilled and tapped new holes to mount the airbox into my ek9

curious to see how this works out, the 'ek9' version actually has a larger chamber which is a good thing :p

hope you can get it to fit

looking tidy. do you get any resonating through the revs?

Cheers man, Hmmm.. I just get a strong whistle from about 4.5k up, but then VTEC kicks in y0. Sounds much better up the rev range. Really impressed with it.

Looking good there :nice:

Cheers Stephen, There's much more I'd like to do, but I can't really afford it whilst driving it daily this summer, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it despite the shitty roads on the drive to work in Newcastle. The roads here are genuinely dreadful.
