My 1997 Black EK9

Small update, recently added a Tegiwa decat and tidied the engine bay up a bit. Apart from that, car has been relatively unchanged!!

Hi mate, I hope you don't mind me posting up in your thread, your black EK9 looks stunning! I happen to read that you had a Glanza, this is the car which I currently own but I am looking into trying to find a nice EK9 in the summer months!

Just wondering how the two compared really? Mine is almost standard apart from coilovers and wheels and despite £600 in suspension it still feels like a blamonge on the road :nono:. Build quality ain't all that either, seem to always have something to fix and the interior is god awful but then I don't know how an EK9 compares? What about in performance? The Glanza isn't bad performance wise as long as its pointing relatively straight but not sure how an ickle N/A 1.6 would compare?

If you can take the time to reply I'd really appreciate it :).

In my opinion you'll be taking a big step forward by moving to an ek9. Performace wise the civic will be far improved. It delivers power in a different way than the 1.3 turbo by revving much further. My friend had a well tuned 191bhp glanza and against my old ek9 it was nowhere to be seen.

Build quality is much improved in the ek9 throughout the car, plus the interior is a much nicer place to be in starting from the seats alone.

Standard suspension in an ek9 is designed for the track so its a vast improvement over a glanza, like you said even with coilovers they still handle poorly. Im sure everyone on the forum will agree any decent suspension added to a 9 makes it a brilliant handling car.

Hope this info helps

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply mate much appreciated!

Loving the forum too which makes me decision easier, everyone is really sound and not quite as 'Chavy' as on the UKSC ;).

Thanks again, lovely car!

Finallly got the car rolling roaded yesterday up at AI Autosport in NI

Result was 207.5bhp at the flywheel and 136.3lbft

Really happy with the result, also note to self full Spoon system is extremely noisy in enclosed conditions!

Cheers guys

Nearly tempted to not sell now and take it a bit further :nerv:
