My 2005 350Z GT

Great choice Dan, not that much more expensive to run imo, as long as you stay away from the dealers, what does the other half think?

Saw one at Donny the other year on slicks, they move well, will you..

Cheers Chris! I hope its not too terrible to maintain, it is only a weekend toy so hopefully will be ok... I would like to put it on track at some point although i really do need to get some decent tires on it as i have these budget ones on and they dont give any confidence at all! Also need to get used to a powerful RWD car as this is my first one...

By other half you mean my "ex" Kim, Not with her any more buddy.... The new one isnt so bothered about cars but slowly getting her into it he he...

We need to meet up again soon mate, a day around brands. Im yet to see your machine in action too!!

not a huge fan of these tbh. they sound amazing but i though the interior was very plastic and poor looking. do like them in black or the deep blue colour, mate had one with a nismo zorst and it sounded truely epic! what you make of the handling compared to the 9? I though it was rather heavy and soft for such a sports car breed.

I havent really had a chance to properly take the car on some bends as the weather has been terrible. Ive only had the car 3 days, snowed all 3 days! First day was just wet with some dry patches so i could give it some beans on some straights but thats it... The turning feels very nice and precise and the car feel planted but quite heavy.. Feels completely different to the 9... I dont find it soft, its firm but comfortable.

Like i said i will only know more on a few dry days and more experience with the car. I personally love the car and driving it... It was what i was looking for, A heavier, more comfortable car that could still perform well and hold its own... I didnt get this car for performance purposes.. Although me being a petrol head will make the best out of what i have on the budget im feel is worth it...

For now im very happy with it.

Brands next year mate, count on it :)

Nice buy Dan:nice: bet your enjoying the torque!!:D Best of luck with it.

Lovely car mate, really like both the colour and the interior. Works well together i think. Shame the 9 has gone but we allhave to move on at some point. I have every intention of going rwd in the next 18 months or so. Any chance of you bringing this to the ring in june? :please:

Hi Martin! Cheers dude, yes i think it works well too :)

I tell you its a hand full and a half, put it in 3rd today at 65MPH end of 2nd gear and went sideways lol! Right good fun though... I had so much fun in the 9, fulfilled my goals with it. It was time..

I would love to mate, i will have to see how funds are but that sounds a plan! Needs to be dry though as i wont stay straight lol. Let me see what i can do, would seriously love to though!

Sounds like bit of a monster mate, if you do make it i have dibs on the first pas ride!!

You got many plans for the car then?

Cheers Johnny he he!

Martin, For sure mate haha! You trust me? LOL! Plans for now are,
New clutch + fidanza lightened Flywheel(Already on order :D)
Race cats or resonated decats,
XYZ Pipe(basically removing the restrictive parts of the exhaust)
Plenum spacer(as these have a restriction in the plenum)
UPREV re-flash on the ECU, highly recommended by many...

After this its either sell the starlet and supercharge this to achieve around 400-420BHP(stock internals) or keep it how it is.. WIll have to see when i get to that point :naughty:

I tell ya, ive been driving it alot today as its been dryer on the roads and given it some stick and i absolutely love it! It really is a brute haha.... Tonne of torque! And is a great all rounder, offers a good driving experience, exciting while having elegance and comfort...

I've always fancied a 350Z, i did want an evo for ages but just i cant justify the running/maintenance costs. A lot of people have said you'll lose the "raw" fun of a screaming engine and tight chassis of the teg. (Or any type R Honda)

I've never driven or been in 1 but from some reviews i've been reading (not my opinion) it seems a bit heavy and "soft" to throw about. Do you loose in some places but gain in others or is it really a great all round ability car?

Whats your view on that?

Jason,

I was in the position to buy any car from an R33GTR skyline to an EVO 8 but i opted for the 350Z as its not the usual car to buy. I wanted to get a car that was more elegant not so boy racer(ish) if you know what i mean... And im really glad i bought one :)

My view,
Yes it does feel heavy, but the chassis is firm enough to handle its weight. Steering is quite heavy but very precise, selecting gears is also quite heavy, its a real manly car, almost like a muscle car but dont be fooled as it can definitely hold the road on the corners even with these crap tires.

The chassis isnt the tightest but it is tight enough to start on. If it was a problem you can get a few components uprated to suit your need.

As an all out performance car i do believe it does cut it, just takes some confidence and getting used to and could probably do with minor tweaks here and there. However if you are buying a car souly based on performance and not much else then i wouldn't recommend it as there are cars that will perform better for the money in stock trim.

Thanks for that Dan is good to read someone's real view rather than a biased view or people slating it when never driven it.

I have a similar view to you in what i look for in a car and what i'll enjoy from it. (if you know what i mean)

Think a test drive is in order in the new year :D

No worries at all :)

The only problem with test drives are you cant drive them how you want unless of course you go to a dealer and they let you take it out :drive:

On my test drive i barely did anything, just a few 2nd gear/3rd gear pulls. But just driving it and looking at it i knew i wanted it, it won me over pretty dam easily he he

Good luck dude
