My B20 EK9 NEW (250bhp 160+tq)

Good day, Ran 14 all day on my first drag race day. But first gear just wouldn't work on the strip as its so short, 30mph max. And that was on Daz's drag semi slicks.......

However! I put my road tires back on when I was about to leave and someone said the super short first is costing me time, as by the time it starts pulling in first its time to change up....

He said try a 2nd gear start at 4500rpm and I thought he was mad, but I launched at 3.5k in second and got 14.2!! I couldn't believe it and that was on normal tires with low rpm launch, well into 13's next time!

Wish I knew to do that at the start of the day, and NOT arrived with a full tank of fuel, stupid track day habit........

Went well mate!! Nice clip, at least you've learned a few things that you can take forward into your next drag race about starting in second. Sounds sweet as too, wished mine sounded like that lol!

Any luck with finding someone to sort the gearbox out?
 
No. don't think its worth the hassle.

Got 135 mile on half a tank on the way to to shakey sunday and was over the moon, just have to limit the cruising speed.
 
That's not bad that actually 135 miles off half a tank.

It is difficult to cruise at 70-75, you can't help but nail it all the time it's that type of engine.

I think it's the same with any VTEC really, I used to hammer **** out of my CRX VT all the time ha ha!!
 
The above pics of the black rims have helped me come to the decision that the te37 have to go, replaced by wilwoods and std wheels. Will be selling when I find out offset and refurb the sfd wheels.

on this video I see, that traction was very good (muuuch better then polish airstrips without glue). You have stock S80 so first gear is as long as at stock ITRs. You have to learn a lot about launching and shifting on 1/4mile, couse not traction was a problem there..

Not bad at all, I ran 14.2's in my old B16B ek9 with 4.78 fd at straighliners drag event here in N.Ireland

My old DC2 used to manage 14 dead with R888s

it might be a std first mate but the FD is what makes eveything short on the car. :nice:

what do you recon it would do without a full tank?

It should definitally be capable of 13s 1/4 miles with the power to weight ratio, drag racing is hard to get right in a fwd car but sure its just a bit of fun


LeeEK9 was doing high 13s with a b18c EK9 and no LSD
