My Ek9 from Northern Ireland :)

Small Update:

My Hybrid Racing Kswap engine mounts arrived, however, unfortunately my DC2 subframe, steering rack etc seems to have got lost in the post :(

But for now here's some pics of the mounts. Beautiful piece of engineering :)

Another day has passed and still no DC2 subframe yet :(

Does anybody know whether I'll have to use DC2 bolts when fitting the subframe or can I use my EK9 bolts?

U really have been busy maffy lad! Im hopefully gettin my 4 on the road soon! Roll on nxt summer alot of cruisen to be done mate! Stunning 9 by the way dude!

Cheers Grimo, Aye I found that out on saturday there. ;-) should have another wee update soon whenever I find my phone lead lol.

So after a short week long holiday me and a few mates got stuck into the 9 again after I returned home to find my DC2 subframe, steering rack, wishbones, knuckles and ARB had all landed. Unfortunatly no pics of this :(

The bushings were in as new condition as were the droplinks so these were 1 less thing to worry about. We set about fitting it and before we knew it the K20a2 was in the bay.

I've decided to test fit everything and make sure everything is 100% before even thinking of spraying the bay because I want it mint when it's done! lol. Engine went into place nicely on the mounts but there is a bit of tension on the drivers side mount for some reason?

Test fitted the auxiliaries and the bonnet closes with the DC5 power steering pump, only just but with the vibrations I can imagine there being an issue so i'm going to just cut the skeleton I think.

also ordered a few goodies from Hybrid Racing as well. Should be here in the next week or two :)

If you read this then keep an eye out for a reasonably priced Kpro please and thanks!

I also had everything I needed to get her back on her wheels again, so 30 mins later she was a rolling shell for the first time since February. She sits quite low at the front and really high at the back on these shocks and springs :S but I'm happy enough for now!

Such good progress man, Good to see your not rushing it and throwing cheap **** at it, Bonnet catch looks good :nice: How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? From Honda presumably?

It wasn't even man! I got all my nuts, bolts and brackets all dipped and zinc plated, (or regolded as I call it). They turned out fantastic and will add to the bay once it's painted I think.

The dear bits and pieces start now that I didnt take into account when considering the swap but no backing out now lol

I think thats my old k20 engine out my crashed ep3 .... hmmmm lol

Was the clutch onit an Exedy?

Lol I wouldn't be surprised if that was your old engine! I just bought it from a guy in Bristol who bought it to Kswap his EG. And he said it came from an EP3 that was rear ended. 2003 also. PM me all the details you have about it please :)

I don't think it was an Exedy clutch, I have it off and couldn't see any marking on it apart from it being a bit worn! Carbonetics clutch going in soon :)

So tonight I stripped out the rear of the car in prep for getting the inside painted. I was pleasantly surprised by how little rust there was. Any rust that was there was also accompanied by some copper coins. lol. Off work tomorrow so gonna refit brake master cylinder, clutch cylinder and sort out some of the wiring for the battery relocation.

Here's a few pics to enjoy, sorry about the quality, I really need to invest in a camera one day!

Big thanks to B@Z for getting me the Karcepts shifter template today. I printed it out, got the scissors out and before I knew it I was in the shed with the jigsaw. lol.

Pictures below shows the template and getting the lines marked up for where I need to cut to install my DC5 shifter box. I only got half the job done this evening but when I have a drill tomorrow evening I'll hopefully get it mounted. Carpet got covered in filings which was a bit crap but nothing the 20 year old Nilfisk won't sort.

My stomach wasn't easy when the cutting began but it turned out quite well in the end up. I think i'll need to shave away a little bit more at each side tomorrow.
