basicly i have seen a civic in ireland that i would like to bring to uk, i live in halifax west yorkshire

how do i go by doing this, also i have been told that i have to get the car insured on the chassis number to get it back

i am on trade coverd on all imports so will that be ok or do i still have to get a seprate insurance for it

wich is the closest docks to halifax, and closest docks to meath in ireland

i will appreciate if you can help please

there is a few threads by gav that have gone over this, just search: registering a car from southern ireland...

Easy ive just done it, flyover boat back then drive from chosen port which I would say Liverpool for you. Then drive it home. Get a form from the dvla/vosa site should be one localish to you. Pay 176 to register and tax it, get plates made up hey presto.

Top tips

Make sure the car is taxed and nctd over there or I will be illegal.

Usually you will have to insure it via the chassis number

Make sure you get the Irish registration document, because you can resister it with out it.

Try and find out if some one on here know the guy try researching cause I've heard of a lot of people robbing them when they get to the car.

Hope this helps

Really easy but there are so many ropey ones its unbelievable. If its on donedeal for a really good price it will be ****. We did 1000miles looking at terrible cars a month or so back.

Think of the worst condition EK9 you have ever seen in England and then make it a little bit worse, that what it'll be like.

So true.
I viewed four all with less miles on the clock than mine and they were all dogs.

So so many poor condition ones around now it's unreal.

Put up a thread on Honda haven and im sure lots of our members will have info of the car.

I bought a cheap one from Ireland and it turned out to be a dog. I bought it blind, didn't go and look at it 1st, had it brought back for me.

If you factor in the cost to go and look at a car, price to get it back, registration here, and the hassle getting it done, they don't always work out any cheaper.

I don't know how strict NCT's are but my car had a fresh one and failed the MOT over here on loads of things.

pm me what car and ill see if i can find any info on it

I live in Meath if you want to pm me I could even go look at it for you if you would like

I could look at one in the Cork area.

Most ek9/dc2`s in Ireland are buckets that have being wrecked but saying that there is some good ones but they do not last long on donedeal if even sold on it just my opinion :nice:

most cars over are muck altogether id go look at a few or it could turn out be a waste time bud but up a link ill ask lads on the forums about it

I think I know the car your on about an all you said is closest docks to meathin Ireland. It's a champ white facelift ek9? I'm from Meath myself and know of someone who was/is selling one that is advertised as mint.. Truth is car has had a full respray about a year ago and has since been crashed and had to have front end redone again. Think it got a nice tip!
