I can't believe they've given a type-r 4 doors. Power seems poor incomparision with VXR's, Audi turbos and megane cups. Hopefully mugen will tune it up a little.
Erm.....the ATR & FD2R is a 4 door, but that on a hot hatch is a bit strange
Seat = 260 Hp
Vw = 260 Hp
Renault = 260 Hp
^ all 3 being easily tuned to 300Hp with a remap and an exhuast..
Ford = 300 Hp...
I think they should make it a nice round 280Hp then it sits bang in the middle of the table.... then show it off the manufacturers mentioned and say
"How'd you like them apples"
they have always been just behind in terms of power but then had handling to keep up but it'll have to be a hell of a light car and an amazing chassis to make the 50 - 90 hp seem useless and i mean a HELL of a good chassis....
210 Hp come on honda this isn't 2001 anymore 210 Hp from a turbo 2 litre just doesn't cut it any more.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agree. Although these figures maybe preliminary, Honda maybe a bit conservative to keep their engines reliable I guess and plus turbo in a high performance car is new for them, must be hard trying to keep the balance of Type R handling and the torque of a turbo through the front wheels.
The power potential will be good though and easier to tune. Just the turn of a knob from a boost controller and a few other basic mods will probably take this upto 260bhp+ without much problem
BTW, I don't like the look of the new Civics in normal or Type R form!! It's like they ripped the face and arse off the FN2 and transplanted it with that of Kelly Osbourne
