New Civic Type-R Pics

Seat = 260 Hp
Vw = 260 Hp
Renault = 260 Hp
^ all 3 being easily tuned to 300Hp with a remap and an exhuast..
Ford = 300 Hp...

I think they should make it a nice round 280Hp then it sits bang in the middle of the table.... then show it off the manufacturers mentioned and say
"How'd you like them apples"
they have always been just behind in terms of power but then had handling to keep up but it'll have to be a hell of a light car and an amazing chassis to make the 50 - 90 hp seem useless and i mean a HELL of a good chassis....

210 Hp come on honda this isn't 2001 anymore 210 Hp from a turbo 2 litre just doesn't cut it any more.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good shout man. If you actually think about it 210bhp from a Turbo engine is to be quite honest..slightly pathetic. If you think about a Euro Fn2 with 198bhp from a K-series engine..then essentially all the turbo has done is add on 12bhp and slightly more torque. A JDM EP3 would probably wipe the floor with this thing going by Stock/stock. I do like the way the new C.E.O is thinking about bringing back Honda's racing routes. But I definitely agree with Toph on this one..has to be sitting a good 250-280bhp to actually bring back the market to Honda's favour on hot hatches.

agree with that mate.. 1.6 B16B jdm= 185Hp 1.8 B18CR jdm= 197Hp 2.0 K20jdm = 225Hp ...2.0 T = 210Hp..... something is not right..yeah there are emissions laws but the m5 has like 552 Hp..and 500lbs ft, so although it gained a turbo or 2 it gained the power to match...

fair enough it'll be a modern turbo engine so won't have a big kick or anything and they will probably have some gizmo that makes it spool at 2000 Rpm and drives like an N/A but no turbo is gonna replace the Vtec hit...

i'm willing to bet the redline is south of 8000 Rpm also..

If only honda HQ had a direct link to this forum, i'm sure they'd change it for the die hard honda fan's .... Ah wait there is emission laws to adhear to... best forget the enthusiasts then.. :angry:

I wouldnt get hung up on the engine power , Honda has always been after great response from engines.

They should aim to beat the renaults , the R32 golf gets hammered on track by decent EK9's DC2's :p

i wish...:nerv:

civics/type r are all about utilising its lack of weight,its tight suspension and highly responsive engine in order to keep ahead of its competition while putting bigger engine cars under pressure.
this made up for the power deficit.

this car is none of those things.

2L and a turbo could be serious fun if honda where a bit concerned delivering a competitive car to the market. Even not a new turbo engine, but the accord k20z2 with a turbine added could produce massive torque and pull really hard from low to mid range and then i-VTEC would do the rest!!! A complete engine, combined with a short ratio lsd gear box and stiff suspension set up would easilly smoke vxr`s and megane`s away. i don`t care if the logo R stays or not, what would make the difference for me, would be a fast car with no need for after market twinking with the reliability honda ensures out of the box.

will never ever be as good as an ek9 wish honda would go back to that technology for just 1 car again

i wish it was 10 years ago again lol.

On a higher note though spoon will get a hold of it and pump it up to 300bhp :drive: :p

do like the look of this but its crying out to be tuned others have proved fwd cars can handle more power than this with a good diff, i'm sure spoon and mugen will sort it out though

body...
...rear end same as FN's :((
...front end is worse than ever :mad:( (FN had a pretty Jap faced front)
... four doors on a hot hatch?! wtf!
engine...
...turbo + vtec = many hp :D+ emissions => I dont think they will do it...
... so => 2.0l + small turbo= 210 bhp => cheaper engine, cheaper car => more competitive => more sales.

European laws for emissions made from the same people who sale their cars to europe , so they couldn't see japanese competitors to steal their market! They made cars to their own standards to their own laws! ( even if their factories still pollute the atmosphere)

Honda deside to make a more friendly hot hatch (gti) not a type r (racing type).

Its my thought ,but it could change...we must see more of it!:nerv:

I wish that, because they are releasing another new Civic, that the parts for the EK chassis would become cheaper from honda..
:angry: :(

this is sweet looking, far nicer than the fn2 civic but were has the red H gone!?

i like the look of this!! once this car is remapped , think the power figures would be mega good!

Not really going with Auto express on this one. They appear to be the only car media company with this news. Despite the fact last month they had a quote from Honda C.E.O confirming that the new civic Chassis was not set for a type R badge but would have a "Sport" variant. I honestly do not think this is a Type R more of a "Vti/Ek4" equivalent of the 90's, I think this is the reason for the slightly low power base etc. I am still looking for information on this via Honda news and other websites. So far Auto express seem to be the only company using this as a base for "Type R" lol. We shall have to wait and see I suppose. :naughty:

We also have to remember Auto express are also the people who posted concept images of the CR-Z type R claiming it would have a k20+Hybrid which again...proved false.

Has anyone seen the new civic in the flesh yet? Think it looks like a Seat upfront as well and and C class coupe back...not great. Spoiler on this just looks wrong. If I needed four doors, I'd take a second hand fd2 over this any day of the week. Cr-z looks better type r base, with or without ima. I am sure the new nsx (like the daulnote concept) will come to life as it apears a new bread of jap motors on the horizion like Toyota FT-86.

Lower standard power = lower insurance premuim.

Vtec turbo = BIG power potential. :nice:

I hope it comes with total poo power as standard as to keep the insurance group down. Then bring on the tuning.
