new civic type r

Seems to be driving well, did not notice any push.

So what engine does it have now? Some say turbo, others say no turbo.
Too bad they messed up the rear end, looks awful imo.

haha i know, bet it goes well though! personally think it should just have a center exhaust

I read the same about it been a turbo a while back, 18 seconds definitely sounds like it could be.

What suspension will it have?

Won't be double wishbone and independent rears... That died out in 2000

Probably the same suspension as featured on the lesser model civic of this generation, just with more solid damping/springs. Which I'm guessing is a rear beam job..

lovely

I read won't be double wishbone too which is unfortunate but let's see what theyve come up with!

I thought it was the 2.0l bi-turbo as honda had to stop making them due to high emmisons for tuff laws the have to face. Could be wrong but that is what i remember reading somewere

Likely to be an engine similar to what's in the WTCC racer, they built the HR-412E, a 1.6 turbo. I know that's a race engine but I believe the regulation is that it has to be based upon a production engine I.e bottom end & block, I think power output for the road car would be just shy of 300bhp.

I think Honda has some expectations to live up to, the last Type R (aside from the FD2) was a disaster. They are aiming for the all new car to be the fastest FF car round the Nurburgring, so they are clearly aiming high so i wouldn't mind if it ends up being delayed for further development.

Honda needs the new Type R to bring them back to the top again, it's Japan's only contribution to the current breed of hot hatches, its all European manufacturers that are out there just now think about it, Focus RS, Megane Trophy, Astra VXR, Peugeot is back with the GTI and we even have Kia who have never made a sports model before who have come out with the Pro Ceed GT, and that's been getting some decent reviews. I just hope Honda can pull the finger out and produce a car worthy of the Type R badge, they desparately need it!

I was at the nurburgring today and have seen that thing in real life. Compared to the other things that they were testing, the Type-R looked fast. I couldn't tell by the sound if it was turbo or not, but the car seemed to handle really well.

Judging by the sound of it (or lack of it) I would confidently say thats a turbo. Rumours are that it will be around 300 horses and 2.0-2.2 turbo.

Shame as it wont sound like a 'civic' but it means it will be more competitive in the current market with simular turbo and power.

Look on the brighside....means big tuning potential in the future :D
