new civic type r

See this car yesterday at the ring, was hammering down the straight, sounded like a plane coming past.

any videos of that?

Nah I didn't even see it just heard a savage noise and a flash lol was told later it was the civic, also had new mclaren on track for a few laps.

Quite excited about this car. Styling aside the FN2 was a bit of a damp squib and personally I think Honda shot themselves in the foot by making such big car a 3dr which just made it an impractical option for a huge amount of people who might otherwise have been interested.

I personally quite like the shape of the new civic, I know it's not to a lot of people's tastes but as long as the price is right and the performance lives up to what their promising then it will be a good seller for them. And tbh since the S2000 came to an end Honda just have absolutely nothing exciting in their range atm so having one of the best, if not the best, hot hatch on the market will do their image no harm at all.

:nice:

Exactly my thoughts. Has always been one thing that put me off hatchbacks as I tend to use rear seats quite often. Is all well and good for the older generation of hatchbacks being small and nimble but with the size of cars these days it makes perfect sense to not have anything but a 4dr. As you see they realised with the FD2. Just opens up so many more potential buyers.

As for the styling I like it so far. The looks of the present generation is dire to be fair but with the extra flair they seem to be including on the Type R it looks like they are going to be beefing up the body on even just the base spec Type R almost to the extent as much as they did with the mugen R's.

If it ends up that all the new generation have all the flair of a Mugen R with the extra lips and spoilers along with a snarling 2.0-2.2L Turbo then I can't wait. As thats what track they seem to be on.

So dissapointed its a 5Dr... And that it shares even a slight resemblance to the current car, i knew it was going to be both those things but it still hoped it wouldnt.

Even if it is the fastest FWD car round the ring, i still wouldnt buy it because it looks too hideous :(

From what I've seen it looks an impressive car on the performance side of things but it looks shitty like most modern cars.

I think it is not what the spirit of a type R is. "If you could save weight at any position of the car, we did it"
Why saving money on the suspension? (mcphearson front suspension and live rear axle)
