open insurance??

Ive been doing this since i was 17, i had my mums ford KA registered in my name and my ek9 and rx7 in hers :nice:

Both cars need to be insured otherwise it isnt legal. Police are coming down on the insurance companies to bump up the age or stop it all together as many teens are being seen in Evos, scoobies etc etc

Theres still a few lefts doing it tho!

Also the cover on the othercar is only TP,F&T

re: eamon ek9: so basically your friend gave in his policy number for the 306 to tax the is200??

spoke to quinn again they only do this in northern ireland!

pag-ek9-what insurance company did u do it through??

re: eamon ek9: so basically your friend gave in his policy number for the 306 to tax the is200??

well wen he went to tax the is200, he just give his policy number which he is insurce in, and it workd no baller..
so as long as u have a policy number ur ok:secret:

hah thats sweet! i am considering getting a old fiesta van (doesnt require nct :D ) and us it as a run around and then il be insured on any car not in my name tpft! sweet :D

remember the car isn't insured when you are parked up and not in it ;)

All company's terms and condition's differ

The car doesn't need to be insured with mine
But you will get stopped a lot if its not as it will show up as no insurance

And if the insurance can prove you are using it as a main car, the cover will not stand !

This is interesting. Does anyone know roughly the price difference on average between quinn and other companies if you have looked at several insurance quotes

yea there are alot of things you need to think about before going ahead with this type of cover! lots of therms and conditions! its only realy worth it if you have 2 cars on the go and the 1 you are actually insured on is your main daily driver!

I questioned this "Third Party Extension" for when I bought a car in the UK to bring back to Ireland..

I was told that as long as i wasnt the registered owner and the car had Tax and Test then my policy covered me to drive the other car, but third party only..

And I also believe it wasnt activiated on my policy until I was 25.

I honestly dont think anyone under 25 that have their punto insured will be covered to drive their mothers Scooby!!

But you see your only covering the third party not the car your driving so it dosen't matter if your driving an evo 10 or a fiesta

wel it certainly sounds crazy but i do have a mate who was 18 at the time and he got it on his 1.3 e11 corolla and he used to drive a v6 altezza. the altezza was not actually his car he just drove it as the owner,a close friend, worked alot of hours away from home each week. he even rang quinn to confirm that he was insured to drive the altezza and they said no problem as long as its taxed and tested! and it cost him nothing extra on his premium! fact! :D

Im insured with axa im 22 and iv open drive i think you need a full licence but iv 4 years no claims to. your insured as long as the car is not owned by u or hired to u under hire purchase agreement. your only third party though.
