Parada Spec 2 On Track? Views.

I used 15" spec2s on the track just to see what they were like and for the price you couldn't beat them. Decent grip when warm but they don't get close to cut slicks or r888 or advans

tyre preference can be very personal, ie everyone raves on about r888, i think their **** on track, die within several laps, my teg just happened to come with them, would never buy them myself

I used PS2's last month at oulton park & found that they wernt to bad for a road tyre but as said by others after 8-10 hot laps they started to over heat wich caused me to have to come in & let them cool for a while!

In the wet they are just a complete NO NO!

But for the price they are not a bad choice IMHO!:nice:

I went on croft last friday & because of the bad weather the week leading up to it i decided to go for the toyo t1r's! (expecting a wet day)
I have found t1r's to be quite good in the wet (on the road) in the past & i was on a very limeted budget for the day! (due to loosing my shifts @ work)
Well the day ended up being really hot/sunny & i was gutted with the choice i had made because the t1r's just fell to pices after my first 20min session.
In turn this caused me a spin on the 3rd session into a corn feild at 100-110mph & ripped the front passanger tyre off the rim!:((

A good friend mark had a spare set on EP3 wheels with A048's on & lent me them for the afternoon!:nice:
Even on 17's & the car being up on "stilts" it was twice the car i was driving in the morning!:naughty:

I have used R888 & A048's befor on my EK9 & the diffrence is night & day to a road tyre IMHO

I totaly agree 100% with what haitch has said below!
Couldnt put it better myself mate!

Not trying hard enough. Anybody with more than one trackday under their belt will find the PS2 unsuitable, you will reach the limits of it quickly and wont be able to push on. It is a road tyre.

I would recomend that anybody new to the track, start with a couple of road tyres, then try the RS2 for example, then work your way through the semi slicks available, possibly according to price, this way you learn more about your driving and the tyre feel. Until you find the tyre that suits your budget and driving.

No comment on the best airfeild tyre as I dont like airfeild days. A048 is my current favourite, looking forward to trying the Federals at that price though. Once you get the bug, extra sets of alloys are a must, along with a decent jack and impact wrench, I normally drive to the event with the RS2's, with 6 semi slicks in the back unless I have another vehicle, rotate them through the day.

I do try and then some.
I have a good suspension setup which allows the tyres to be saved on track ;)

I can understand if if the suspension is shite, the tyres have to do all the work , which will in turn make them go off quicker. Simple logistics.

Yes its a raod tyre, and a fine one at that.
Most people will do the odd track day and not have the spare wheels to swap over with decent track rubber.

My opinion, there a fine tyre (even in the wet) .

I've used the ps2 for a while now and on a previos car, excellent day and night in the dry, wouldn't advise a race in the damp as they can be a bit slippery, but as for in the wet if you race our mad, but i have total confidence in them for water dispersment and safe.

On silverstone, GP tarmac i had 2 15 minute sessions and only once did i push on slightly, but to be honest i dont think i'm driving them hard enough. but the ep3 on r888's deffo had better cornering ability.

going trax in sept so will be trying them out again,

as for price 30 quid a corner is a great price for road and track.

Think I'll go with the RS2's, I'll probably learn more using a less grippy tyre anyway.

Could find the RSR's, Rare Rims was the only place that I could find which sold them but they were out of stock.

BCUK have the RSR, nice price, going to test them later this month.

I have used PS2's many times on track...In the dry they are Horrendous but i LOVED them in the wet beleive it or not. Plus the fact they cost pennies means you can kick **** out of them and not worry about having to replace.

Plus i liked them because for the 1 or 2 laps they are at the right temperature they are good and the wee EK9 used to drive pretty well on them. Only 1 Second behind Stevens EK9 on new R888s Round Knockhill and that was before my car was mapped.

Depends what your after...a cheap fun day at the track then the PS2's are good enough BUT if your serious about getting quicker and driing harder you need to spend some money

An MG ZR was running Parada's on the trackday I went to and they seemed to be nearly as good as my part-worn Hankook semi-slicks.

Hey buddy, you ok?

Yeah they were ok for the day. After about 7 or so laps they were getting a bit too warm though... I would personally go for a harder compound for the dry. Even though Parada's are soft, they seem turd in the wet. I used Pirelli RS7 moulded slicks before and they held up really well.

Have a look on the britishrally forum classified section - often some cheap part worns going cheap on there. :)

Hey mate, yeh really good thanks. How's progress on the rally-car?

I think, for the price, it sounds like it's hard to go wrong with a set of Parada's, plus I can drive to and back from the trackday on them. Once I start doing proper racing tracks with armco then I'll invest in something a bit better, at the moment the worst that can happen is look like an arse on the grass :)

I'll take a look at the site though, might be able to grab a few bargains, cheers :nice:

My PS2's after 30 minutes at mallory...

and I had to drive home on them!EEEK!

The point is I think they're crap. Especially in the wet.

i used spec2's at castle coombe, they were ok but the seemed to loose grip after a couple of laps making the understeer abit of a hand full i say save up and get some 888's! i also used these at coombe and i could not fault them almost 0 understeer! and superb grip through out and thats with no rear ARB standard ej9 front ARB and tyre profiles of 195/55r 15.

same happened to me, same car same track, same tire.

felt they get soft REALLY fast, AD08 next for me i think

The main feeling i got is that the tires dont match an ek9's chassis / sus on track.
