in actual fact, They ( the council ) are breaking the law by doing this...

i have had so many from the council aswell.. i went into the city hall and demanded to speak to a manager.... the lady who was serving me spoke to the mananger and asked him to come over and i could hear her say to him
" he's talking about something to do with not consenting to the act or statute i don't know what he means can you come and speak to him please "

he pretneded to not know what i was on about by saying if you pay the fine we will stop hassling you.. ... so i spelt it out to him

Me: " Mr manager sir, i am NOT going to pay this fine come heaven or hell, you either book me into a county court now or drop all these pathetic illegal and un lawfull charges.. i know fully that this comes under one of your little Act's , which i will add purely means theatre and drama, and i will tell you now that i do not consent to the contract you are offering me.. so are we going to see each other in court or are you going to drop these charges now ?? "

he asked me to calm down and then went on to tell me he can't remember the last time they took someone to court over a parking fine and stated that there would no further action and the account was closed on this matter..

i thanked him for his time and wished him a good day.. ..

i am not saying you can just walk in and get it removed but i had previsouly sent them letters for the fines before and he knew who i was and honestly i think he just couldn't be bothered lol. there are a lot of people in this world that would say that i should have just payed the fine and then they would have not hassled me over it... To be honest a little hassle and not paying a fine is better than paying a fine and having NO hassle..

but basically it is true it is not a criminal offence and therefore has NO place in a county court..

Threads like this make me wish I still had my old escort, it was on IOM plates and so not registered in the UK, which meant no speeding fines, no parking tickets and no road tax. **** car, awesome privileges...
 
Sorry to hear that mate, if the b*****ds are out to get someone (probably cos of some stupid weekly target) they will get someone for the most minor thing.

Unlucky you, just take a deep breath, pay and forget about it.
 
topher are you saying that the laws that apply to private car parks(ie a mcdonalds or something) and not being involved in a contract therefore not having to pay them also works with the council and parking on the general road?
