Please stop doing it guys

I get where your coming from Gav and it is a sin to break a perfectly good car, but seeing as parts are getting so expensive for EK9's now its easier for people to to pick up second hand parts.

For example if you had a bump, the price of parts now the insurance company would more than likey right you car off. it would be easier to buy the parts you need from someone whos breaking a car and fix it that way if you want to repair you car as I'm dam sure you wouldn't go to honda for new parts.

I hear what you're all saying. Back in 2009, my 9 was involved in a rear end shunt. The insurance visa wrote it off and I bought it back, repaired it (using parts from an ek9 the was involved in a frontal shunt that "strictlyboost" on here was breaking - very nice chap btw). It was quite a funny spectacle to see 2 grown adults, fitting a rear bumper and a few interior parts (for my mate) into a BB4 Prelude :win:

Anyway...all in all I like to say that I'm not helping in this whole "breaking for money" malarkey by repairing my 9 using bits off another worded damaged one. And yes I know that mine isn't gonna be worth as much as all the other ones out there but tbh...I don't really care. I love the car and am going to be the last owner ;)

Agree it is such a shame to break perfectly good ek9's.

I must admit I do get a bit excited when new breaking threads get posted up  but mainly for modified parts not oem.

When I come to sell my car I shall be returning it to OEM and selling of my aftermarket parts.

Breaking a highly modified car makes financial sense if you cannot return it to standard.

As said, a lot of people will have done this on credit and that needs to be repaid as much as possible.

Anyone breaking clean stock EK9s is a bastard.

parting out a good EK9 only makes everyones EK9 more valuable as a complete car.
Double edge sword in other words, if nobody parted out a EK9, then there would be no demand...sorry for the rant, I want a complete EK9 but thats a pipe dream.

Totally agree with this post! fair enough breaking the car for parts if there substantial damage/rotting shell/ uneconomical to repair but not just to make a few extra £££. Doing this will end the generation of ek9s! and none of us want that!

Tbh i dont see the point in modding a car to a high spec just to break it apart.
Everyone should know that spending likes of say £10k on a ek9 isnt gonna get half the money back so if its all about money, people shouldnt mod a n old car then imo.
Ive bought my dc2 for £3500 and its already 14years and just tipped over 100k and plans to keep it for at least 3/4 years.
With the plans ive got, my mods could easily triple the value of my car in the future and by then ill probs struggle to sell the car for the same price as ive purchased it now.
Ive set my heart on keeping my integra and modding it and i will more than likely keep it till it dies so i will more than likely be the last owner of this integra.

Credit is also for bastards !! if you ain't got the money for an EK9 TOUGH !!!!!
If people are breaking their 9's because of credit, if anything, that annoy's me even more !!! thats why i drive EK4 because i will only get an EK9 when I ( not my bank ) can afford it !!

as along with what W80 YAU say's the mod's i put on my car's are for my enjoyment... that is the value i put on them. spoon exhuast can be £500 for b pipe and back box but a spoon exhuast gives looks/power/sound for 3 years worth of ownersip is easily the money worth, why do people feel they need to recuperate it... i have easily got my money's worth of fun out of my mod's... iF you mod a car and are thinking about getting money back from it, you are not a true car modifier...
the idea is to make the car more fun to drive for you and not to make money back, otherwise you are asking something for nothing... BUY a house if you wanna do that !! get into property devlopment not car modding

As i say to the owners of these cars im only using the pics as examples :nice:
But they are just a few of many awsome cars being pulled apart at the minute :(

Big shout to Dunx for saving as many as you have from going down the same route

I'm so so so glad this thread come up. Please ban EK9's from been broken on the forum. If people want to brake them, they can do it else where..

OMG Gav, im so in love with the supercharged pre-facelift :(

I only break write-offs/cars that I dont deem suitable to be on the road, I cant break a good car to be honest.

I know alot of people break their own personal cars for various reasons, financial etc. As Dunx mentioned I'd be more than happy to buy someones car off them instead of them breaking it, maybe replace/sell a few of the aftermarket parts and sell it on as a OEM Spec car.

not being funny but it's not a question of just afew hundred pounds, my ek9 was on it's 2nd b18 after the first spun a bearing and the new engine was starting to smoke like hell. it get's to the point where i realised i could sell the car as is with the very smokey engine for say 4k, if i was lucky or i could split it for bits and end up with over 8.5k.
i'm sorry but for that amount of money i had no objections to stripping it especially seeing as i'm looking to get a house next year which is by no means cheap.
i do however agree that people buying just to break mint standard ek9's should be stopped, but at the end of the day just because they can't sell it on here will not stop them doing it.
