Basically, I am looking for some new wheel nuts however I have heard too many rumour's and stories about fading, chipping, threading, coming loose etc...

So I thought it would be a good idea for people to share a bit of info on what they are using personally by using the following template as a guide:

Brand:
Track or Street use:
Resistance to wear and tear:
Positives:
Negatives:
Pictures:

Just I'm using some basic chrome steel nuts bought from rare rims and have cross threaded two already after a year and think they look pretty crap to be honest, especially in silver/chrome, would like some decent wheel nuts which will last on track and won't look crap after 3 months of use.

Bit of a sad thread, but never know which ones to get!

Cheers
Kris

Rate you lug nuts? My god that's ****...

Since you asked, I had Rays ones on my EK. They took endless abuse, the wheels were on and off regularly. They were scuffed to buggery, but honestly who would care about that? Threads never stripped. I should hope so for the cost of them. Why anyone would pay that much for wheel nuts I have no idea, it's utterly ludicrous.

Don't go for blox, mine stripped the threads easily.
I went back to Oem ones for a while but now have steel extended ones.
I think there called G50 nuts? They sell them over on driftworks and ebay

Mugen nuts is heavy, probably made from steel but i don't like the key would lock the nut in place sometime when i lost the nut.

I have the Ray wheel nuts too, it is light but easily scratch so it would look beat after change wheels a few time. Other than that i like it and still using it.

Thanks for the input guys, I understand it is a bit of an a.nal thread, but I had rays ones and they just seemed so fragile I thought I'd just sell them before even trying them and chipping them.

Ideally I want something that is a bare metal finish as I do a fair few wheel changes and don't want them to look crap after a few uses and will survive on track.

Was contemplating the Skunk2 nuts as there forged and look like a durable finish, but I have never been the the biggest sk2 fan.

And Stevie those G50 ones could be a good shout!

Using mugen nuts on my mf10l

Designed especially for mugen gp wheels

Oh c**p just ordered blox wheels nuts. I will be trying to cancel that order....

These are the G50 ones.

Open ended GT50 Wheel nuts with key and available in 4 finishes

I have them in black, the ends have chipped abit now but my wheels are on and off alot.
Used them on track and done fine, only use these since I have aftermarket wheels and needed tapered ends. Feel much better than aluminium ones ill never trust them again.
If you can, I'd get them blox ones cancelled there dangerous.

I'v had d1 aluminum lug nuts, look fragile and weigh nothing, but iv had them on the car over a year and have never came loose or stripped threads, but the red ones turned pink within 4 months, but the blue ones seem to hold their colour ok,

Best for the money is the muketi or whatever way there pronounced. Don't go aluminum there utter rubbish I've had d1 and never again!! The steel muketi ones I had in neon chrome on the dc2 are still goin strong after track and the road, there on Jordan now I'd give them a go buddy

Just cancelled my order for blox. Think I will just run standard nuts for a wee while.

AVOID Rays for Road use ... I had a long conversation with them..

Ended up Shearing a Bolt from the hub and had 2 come loose.

Btw i'm not an Idiot I always torque my wheel nuts with an expensive torque wrench.

Race use, Yeh they'll be fine, Chaps at rays told me people don't understand that the wear and tear on Uk roads is far more abusive than the track. ;)

food for thought.

I ended up using Rally wheel nuts from a local motor sport outlet. Ones that fit the wheels i was using perfectly.. He used felt tip pen to get the exact taper of the wheels bolt holes.. Something often over looked.

Once we pulled the Rays nuts off, We found a very small contact patch. Hence them coming loose and sheering off a bolt, the pressure's on those nuts must have been silly.

I was using Kosei K1 wheels.

oh god this thread is pointless

anyone in the know will realise that steel wheel nuts are the ONLY wheel nuts to use

you really think the extra weight will slow you down?

there is a reason that steel nuts are the only type approved for racing use - alu nuts loosen off with heat (i know as i ran them once upon a time and they loosened up due to the heat off the brakes and tyres, despite me torquing them in sequence and to spec)

save yourself some cash eh :please:

Buddy club steel ones are very good. My car came with ally ones and I snapped 2 in half getting them off. Dangerous...
