Recommended gearbox specialist for gearbox rebuild??

I'm looking to do the 4th/5th gear swap from the Y21/S4C into my S80. Would like to know if anyone has got any recommendations on where to have this done and what sort of prices have people paid for this work?

I've ordered a complete Y21 box from a VTi so that should be here sometime next week but would like to know a place that i could take my car and box too, take the S80 out, do the gearbox work and then refit ready to drive away?
If there's no such place then I could get the S80 off and deliver both box's if that's what's needed

Closer to South Wales the better

Any help would be great :nice:



Also while ive made this thread.. what would be easier:
taking the 4th/5th from the Y21 and putting in the S80?
OR
fit the 4.7 final drive from the S80 gearset to the Y21 gearset and then put back into the S80?

I'll leave it up to the specialist but just want to find out for an arguments sake lol
 
Mardigras at silverstone are suppose to be good
you can always DIY :)
 
no mate DIY is out of the question.. anything technical seems to go wrong when i try haha

ill give mardigras an email though
 
John the box (manual gearbox repairs) in swansea mate he's done a few boxes for us lot down here.
 
its up in Scotland but I have had many gearboxes built by this guy and his work is brilliant . use a courier service to have them delivered and then collected

Most places should cope with this, RMotion would be closest, if you really needed a specialist, Mardis Gras as mentioned or Tom at TGM, ideally you do not want to be sending your box to the other end of the country.
 
I know mike at r-motion and its not really his thing.. he has the skills to do it but has bigger jobs than gearboxes to deal with at the moment

after messaging numerous amounts of companies all round the UK only one has replied!! he's also the one mike recommended.. so ill be taking my car to Stevie at Grinspeed :nice:

its a 3.5 hour drive but to have the job done right i dont really mind it
 
Give Dan turner or Rob a call at Advanced motorsport & engineering, they are at Silverstone and will be able to do it. Is about 2h 30mins drive for you I think. Great bunch of guys though
 
another change of plan but now im going to go with Performance Autoworks to do the work! They are only 1.5 hours away from me and have quoted me the best price for a drive in drive out service

Cant go wrong with Richie! Always had great service there same for R-motion.
 
Forgot all about PAW, just up the M4. Rich H22 Integra is also up for sale if anybody is thinking of racing, proper sorted at an awesome price :D
