Regamaster fitment problem

They were definately ET45. I also checked it was not the balancing weights that were catching.

I bought 2 x 5mm spacers and fitted the wheels today. Wheels now clear the calipers with a couple of mm to spare. I possibly could have cleared them with 3mm spacers but did not want to risk it.

The wheels do not foul or stick out further than the arches and most importly the car still feels like it handles as well as before.

I appreciate everyone's help and thanks Livvy for a great set of wheels, no regrets here:)

Don't forget our offer, it still counts when they arrive.

Zen, whats your offset of your wheels? I think you might have the 35 ones :(

Bear in mind that +35 offset would have fitted with no issues and would even clear the larger Spoon calipers with no spacers.

It's offsets with numerically higher numbers that place the wheel closer to the center of the car, affecting things such as the brake caliper clearance.

Glad you worked it out with some spacers Zen! You now effectively have a set of +42mm Regas out front! :win:

Yep, sorry until now I noticed that I misunderstood everything, hehe sorry guys :(

Just to clarify offset is the distance from the rear mating surface of the wheel to the centreline of the wheel. The 'backspace' for the caliper is whats relevant here, and generally related to design. The Spoon regamasters were 15x7" IIRC. and are a straight fitment, maybe this is because these are the 15x6.5" versions??

Very nice wheels by the way!

Zen,

Ok, here are some pics, hopefully they'll help. See how close the balance weights are to the caliper. Could that be what's catching on yours?

Are yours the same size?

Cheers,

I hope you have spigot-rings clipped onto the back of the wheels?

Ive got a set of regamasters and the supplier told me they would fit perfect no problem, but after test fitting, caliper clearence etc is excellant... but no spigot rings were included! (or centre caps)

The honda hubs on the EK9 are 64.1mm OD and the Regamasters I believe are 67.1 (i have to confirm this wheel ID size later as I cannot fit my vernier into the wheel to measure.)

But my point is you ave to make sure its hub-centric otherwise youll endup with a wheel overtakign you before you crashe because of a nut coming loost or a stud streching/breakign off! remember the weight isnt supposed to go through the studs! it goes through the sentre bore!

where can i get spigot rings for rega's or do i just ask for specific size from any wheel shop (if so what size) ?

ek9turbo,

Are you referring to my car or Zen's? My regamasters were on the car when I bought it but I'll check to see if they have spigot rings.

Cheers
Alex

Just noticed that I dont have the spigot rings fitted either and would like to know where to get a correctly fitting set. for my regas.

It was general information to help you guys keep reliable..

In the whole country the only guy Ive found who has them instock (I called EVERYWHERE!) is a guy in Bradford called 'Zach'

'Zach' 07900-302119 - please tell him Will with the turbo EK9 sent you.
Theyre just under £20, and the size you want is 64.1mm-67.1mm

When I test fitted mine I noticed the problem... This is how your wheels shouldnt look...

this is what you need form Zach...

Youll have to trim the 4x little tabs off with a stanly knife being careful not to trim your fingers off in the process, always cutting away from yourself. These are here because most wheel manufacturers nowadays eave a little recess in the centre bore for these to clip onto. Regas' dont have that.

Ooh fcukety fcuk... Thanks so much for posting this :)
Stock wheels back on while I sort out some rings.

Cheers,
Alex

yeah, No worries, give us an update when youve sorted it. Do you have a gap between the wheel and the centre-bore extrusion of te brake-disc.

You'll notice no vibrations once theyre re-balanced with the spigots on. Also always apply a light touch of general oil (not grease) to the stud threads to overcome the fricitonal resistance, otherwise you wont get them to the specific torque set on the wrench. :nice:

Yeah, mine looked like your "how your wheels shouldn't look" pics (but not as clean!)

Thanks for the tips too. Anyone know the torque settings for the stock wheel nuts? They'll be higher than the alloy Rays ones I was using with the Regas won't they?

Cheers,
Alex

Right, just called 'Zach', he directed me to his eBay listing No. 360076692483 so some have just been ordered :)

Cheers,
Alex

Good to hear! :nice: when you push them in the back of the wheel itll be a tight fit, but they are the correct size.
