hey,

i am new to hondas and tunning them so im looking for some advise.

i have a 98 plate civic with the 1.5 8v engine on 120k miles :( , its got a full manifold back de cat system, k&n air filter, up graded h.t leads. what is the next step for this engine. it wil be my daily car so i dont want to blow it up.

is there any remap or anything like this for the engine?

Cheers Chris

Hiya mate,

First of all, imho it's not really worth it to invest anything in that engine cause it doesn't have much potential. Best bang for the buck would be, depending on funds, switching to D16(Y8 or Z6) or B16A(2) or B18C4.

Second, do you know what a remap is? Cause from what I read I think you don't. You need a reprogrammable ECU for that. You can buy the off the shelf, which is the most expensive option, or you can get a P28 or P30 ECU with conversion harness and have it chipped so it can take modified maps on a chip. Then you need to find a tuner and he will map the car for you. This means he will adjust how much fuel your engine gets at a specific rpm when going pedal to the metal. It will optimize performance specifically for your car with your mods.

But then again, the cost of doing that would be nearly the cost of a swap to a D16, which will give you way more power and more potential. So my advice is, stop tuning that engine and save up for a different engine :)

get a b18c4, bolt ons and a s80 box with a map on ectune and youl be laughing
