i know theres lots of info on net but every single post just says use punch

im on the drive with hardly any room under car with linkage still on, this "how to" is totally useless while linkage is on car (i went and bought some clamps fo this today), waste of time, just isnt room to do it while under car

Removing the "bitch pin" without using a hammer

anyone got any tips to remove bastard pin

mate i took the whole linkage off the car... used some pliers to hold it from the top and undone it with a socket set... very easy

your talking about shifter end, i mean bitch pin at gearbox end

Its an 8mm interference fit pin, you can use a factory punch tool with the stepped inner which is designed to prevent the pin end from folding in on itself (which wont happen anyway because of the material).

....or the easy way if you dont have these special tools is to simply buy or find an M8 bolt of at least 30mm length (M8x30+) and use that as the punch.

you have to have the car on axle stands and jacked pretty high otherwise you risk getting crushed since most of you wont be using a car lift for this.

A heavy hammer helps too! + some rigging gloves ideally.

Shouldnt be too hard for you with that.

and for anybody who doesnt know what an M8 bolt is, its a metric bolt and the '8' is the diametre in milimetres of the threaded section.

:nice:

I know this little lad well(it was the longest part of taking my bros engine out as I didnt know about it!)

Plenty of WD40,a lump hammer,a pin punch and persiverance:nice:

I spent all of 2 minutes attempting to get this out when i changed my clutch, just undid the linkage at the shifter end and took it off with the box

had go with m8 bolt and didnt budge a mm, mate works at honda so gonna see what tool is place uses and see if i can borrow it (stepped punch is "official" honda tool i think)

you have to really whack it hard. WD40 wont do much for it. and as stupid as it sounds, im sure your already done it but unclip the big spring clip first and make sureyour not going to damage the rubber boot when you pull it back.

Just hit it HARD.

WD40 wont touch it as its a tight interference fit. HIT IT HARD! REPEATEDLY!!

ok, will try againa tomoz, circlip has been removed and have been careful not to damage boot

i done the same as most lads undone the linkage at the shift it is the least amount of hassle to do it that way

try using one of your AC bolts. one of the bolts that holds the compressor to your block. it fits just right and the tip is pointed to keep it in a good spot.

thats tip ive read several times now so another option ill try

WD40 or equivalent penetrating lubricant spray philips screwdriver and hammer the hell outta it.

Besides what has already been said (large hammer, punch/bolt) heat the bolt up very well with a torch, and then hammer it. Make sure your punch isn't too big of course.
There are write-ups to get it out using a C-clamp+punch, but I feel you don't need to go through all that as the job is easy enough with heat, a hammer, and a punch.

thanks for replies everyone, managed to get a punch stuck in there yesterday good and proper so challenge today is to try and remove that before i can even attempt to remove pin now but have myself 8mm punch now

fly over chuck norris as these pins fall out when eye contact from chuck is detected

i use'd a hammer and punch

does take a good bit of abuse to get out for such a small pin

i gave up in end with this having little room on drive

car was on ramp few weeks back and mate removed within couple mins with hammer and punch, stupid design if you ask me

theres a far far easier way than that write up, one of the Power steering pump bolts is the pefect diameter for the bitch pin, simply line it up knock it out with a hammer, it doesnt get stuck in the pin either, i did it with the car on axle stands, so i had very little room, easy!! :D
