Rob's EK9 Progress

Thanks guys for all the great comments :nice:

This build is everything i need for my ek9 once i get it running first lol can i ask where you get your materials and parts the car is awesome

Depends what you mean by materials. Anything that's needed is usually picked up from local shops or eGay if I plan ahead. As for parts I usually go to Honda for them. That way I know the part will be right and it will last.

So clean! Makes me feel bad about mine seeing this lol

Thanks Jesse.

Shouldn't feel bad! Awesome race cars don't have to be super clean etc. it's all about enjoying it and driving it. You know that really anyway ;) But I do want to do a tack day or two at some point. :)

Yeah unfortunately it takes a budget bigger than mine to have a clean track car lol

Did you use aerosols when doing the strut tops and touching up the bay ? Mine is very tired

If you want to keep the headlights looking good for more than a few months have a new clearcoat applied.

You just sanded off the factory coat and it will look terrbile once its been in the sun for a bit.

Yes used aerosols bought from Paints4u.com :nice:

Thanks Feeesh. Have got some nano coating to put on to the lights. Do want them to last :)

Just had a read through this build, amazing, love the wee touches like smoothing the rear lights and the washer jet relocation, definitely on my to do list now....

Also seems we have similar taste in cars, I have a 9 and a SSB S reg ej9 as my daily :nice:.

Thanks, glad I have inspired some subtle touches on your own build.

SSB is a great colour and the ej is nice and comfy for the boring daily drives. Good choice ;)

Fairly substantial update this time.

Rear engine mount had been bought a while back and finally got round to fitting it. Was a long job and one I will not be doing again!

Filled the new mount with plenty of Polyurethane.

The toughest part was the inaccessible bolts and ended up using extensions on extensions on extensions!

Glad I did do this job as it reviled that I had a rather large bolt missing from the mount!
Popped down to honda and got it on order.

Is the bolt that runs through the L bracket to to the engine. Couldn't believe it wasn't there!

Feels much better now the mount is in place and changing gear is much improved.

The next day was the day it was due for a cambelt, tensioner and water pump over at TGM.

Standard TGM race car shot

Also picked up this Seeker V2 rep for good money. Quick test fit before sending off for paint.

Some big things coming soon, so watch this space.

Thanks as always.

Yeah they are great daily's, just plods away no bother at all. Might use it to practise machine polishing as well actually.

Another god update. Seeker looks like a good fit for a rep. Nice work

Thanks guys.

Well I have fairly major update but have just been collecting parts so far. Will be fitting once the weathers better and I can get outside.

I ended up spotting these Mugen MF10's and decided to go for it. Couple of weeks later they arrived. Perfect ek9 fitment at 16x7 ET43. Have been repainted but is a great match of the original bronze. The centre caps have been powder coated which will need fixing. Originally meant to be anodised. So I will be sending these off once I find a suitable company to fix them for me.

On to the photo whoring!

I was a bit worried that the colour of the callipers would clash but now I've seen them with bronze I do rather like it.
Next up is a set of Meister R coilovers. I went for the softer Zeta S as I'm not going for super lows and I still want to retain some comfort.

These will be fitted before the MF10's as they still need tyres and I need to have the car sat nicely on the Meisters first.

That's all for this one. Will update once bits start to get fitted.

Thanks as always.

ooo very nice updates robbie! looks like you're edging towards stealing mr boyles crown :p

Loving This ek9 serious attention to detail. Your doing all the right stuff. It's so fresh
Fair play to you keep the updates coming

A little bit late but have had the Coilovers fitted for the last couple of weeks. Got them set at a nice height but as a result I have plenty of negative camber all round. So camber arms will need to be ordered when funds allow.
First thing was to strip them down and seal them up.

Then got round to fitting.

Also finally managed to get the lower control arms free apart from one bolt which will have to be tackled at a later date. The bolt is free and does turn but has welded itself to the bushe. So only have one arm fitted so far.

After some adjusting and double checking I was finally happy with this height.

Made a start on the mugen centre caps. Stripped the paint of with some nitromors and was left with this mess!

So grabbed the 240 grit and got busy. Glad I did strip them back now as I can restore the sharp clean edges that they're ment to have.

Also went ahead and ordered up some new Allen bolts for the middle of the caps. Fit nicely and will help finish them off once anodised.

That's all for now but will seal up the wheels next and hopefully get tyres sorted very soon!
