s2k or ek? what to purchase! :/

okay guys, so yesterday, i sold my beloved gti. some of you might have seen it. i live in the states btw. just joined not too long ago. and selling that car has opened an opportunity to purchasr a new car, but i am debating between 2 right now. one of which i may choose tomorrow! so i need your help ASAP! :/ i got a good stack of money for the gti ;) so they are both within budget.
ek is half my budget, s2k, almost all of it, any how here are the cars, point me in the right direction! it will be my decision at the end of the day, but i would like some help, since i am not 100% sure at the moment :(
s2k has been one of my favorite cars since high school, but an ek9 has always had something..especialy black prefacelifts, i know its not an ek9, but it might be as close as im ever gunna get, since i live in the states...

btw way guys, i would like input based on fun factor, handling, practicality, potential, preference of course, value, well pretty much everything that can come into play. thanks!
 
I would personally go with the EK. Would either of them be expensive insurance for you? Way I look at it is if you get the hatch you'l have alot of money left over to spend on the hatch making it quicker etc where as if you get the S2K you won't have any money left.
 
Mate, just go with whatever you prefer, cus at the end of the day, you're going to be driving it, you're going to be modifying it. Just go with what your heart tells you ! lol....either way, you can't go wrong with either of them haha
 
I would take into account the running costs, if something goes wrong with the S2000 then they can be very expensive to fix. The EK will use less fuel and probably be cheaper to maintain and insure.
At the end of the day they are two very different cars so try and take both for a test drive if you can and see which you prefere.
 
Two very different cars mate! Try both of them and see which you'd prefer? The EK seems like the sensible choice if it won't max out your budget and you could make it very quick indeed.
