S80 and Y21 gear ratios HELP!!!

hello chaps. i need some help with my new built gearbox.

1. it has LSD E3D stamped on the case
2. crown gear has 67 teeth (the biggest gear)
3. gearbox from a 98 spec integra type-r

as you look at the gear towers inside the gearbox when opened the original tower closest to the LSD is original. however due to money issues i decided to install the second gear tower which is the furthest away from the LSD in to this gearbox from a civic VTi B16 UK 1992 Y21 gearbox.

what have i done in terms of gear performance?. it seems shorter in 1st and 2nd.

1 .anyone welcome to comment with knowledge of the insides of these gearboxes as i havent got a clue and it has cost me a lot of money to get this done.

2. when i get some more money should i put back as it originally was?. ill leave it if it gives faster acceleration.

First second and third are the same in the s80 and the y21. In the y21 the fourth and fifth gears are shorter than the ones in the s80. Honda used gsr fourth and fifth and b16 1-3 in the 98 and up itr tranny.

If you want faster acceleration use the s80 final drive and the y21 fourth and fifth.

What you can also do is leave 1st 2nd and 3rd, swap the y21 4th over and put in a ls( 94-01 b18) integra 5th for crusing on the highway. When swapping any gears make sure you keep the mating gears together, ex. ring and pinion gear. So if you do decide to change the gearing make sure you use the gears from the main shaft( the one with the input shaft) and counter shaft( the one that drives the differential) too.
 
Have a look at the b series transmission guide and use the mfactory gear calculator to decide what ratios to use.

Sound advice above though about swapping the 4th gar about as the s80 jumps alot in terms of speed from 3-4.
 
appreciate your response guys. still a bit confused:please: the gear tower pictured left is origina 98 spec ITR. the gear tower pictured right back is from a y21. i didnt remove any gears from the shafts. basically swopped the right rear gear tower from a Y21 to this ITR box....should of said this first...sorry...final drive is 4.75. any help???

So from what i can see, im better off just using the LSD and Final Drive off the S80, and using the gearset from the Y21 ??

can anyone confirm what would be best? Car is only used for fun / track / Nur so economy is irrelevant! :)

yip,altho did you get 98 spec s80 or 96 spec?as if its 96 spec then there's no point in changing anything
 
its from a UKDM ITR, which isnt listed there, Good info tho!!!

Is the UKDM ITR S80 Same spec as the US ??

ukdm is same as jdm 98 spec s80 box so its got the longer 4th and 5th.change your vti 4th and 5th into it as there shorter
