S80 Swap worth it?

Doing a B18C swap soon and am wondering whether it's worth spending the extra money and having the S80 box with the 4.7 FD as well?

Already spoken to a few good mates about this but wouldn't mind some extra opinions/thoughts. :blinx:
 
I take it you have the standard EK9 S4C box, if so I wouldn't bother going for the S80. I'd fork out the extra and get a 4.9 fitted into your S4C. The longer 4th and 5th in the 4.7 S80 are a bit of a let down also.
 
He's driving at the Nordschleife. Then you do NOT want a 4.9fd unless you like hitting the revlimiter at top speed many times at each lap ;)
 
sent you pm mate regards s80 ill have with plated diff and ek9 4/5 gears, oem 4.7 fd and new bearings/seals and a synchro replaced when it was built

really nice box
 
Got an almost brand new S80 gearbox which may be for sale, have Pm'd you about it - It has only 200-300 miles on it.

In that case i'd just stick with the S4C box as standard!
 
Wow... thanks for the info guys... so it's looking like a standard S80 box isn't ideal. :)

I liked my S80 98 spec - but i guess ive never tried a S4C on a B18C
 
My mate has just done his B18C swap in CRX with S80 box and have to say its quite exciting. I wouldn't spend the money to replace a good S4c box but if i has to choose i think i would choose the S80. Only for the amount of pull it has low revs in 3rd gear. Its really nice. 2nd gear you dont notice so much as it shorter but 3rd is great. 4th pretty much the same.

1st seems a tad short and like to spin tires, same with 2nd as it goes.
 
Good post dan, exactly the sort of comparison that's needed.

I actually think S4C might be better as my old civic used to spin the tires a bit more than I ever wanted it to.
 
i have a s80, dont really worth it tbh.

i bought a kaaz lsd, and found out that it only fitts s4c box:(

Now am having to sell it, gutted i didnt get the chance to use it:(
