S80 Swap worth it?

And if you really want to be fast....take 15" wheels with the S80. The S80 has somewhat shorter gears to compensate for the increase in wheel diameter on a 98 spec ITR (96spec=15", 98spec=16"). So with 16" max speed in first 3 gears is lower. If you take 15's, the ratio will become even higher, the gear shorter on the road, top speed lower and the difference in acceleration will be even higher in advantage of the S80 box.

JT speaks the truth.

With 15 inch rims I think the 98 s80 is awesome, pulls like a train in gears 1-3

i have a s80, dont really worth it tbh.

i bought a kaaz lsd, and found out that it only fitts s4c box:(

Now am having to sell it, gutted i didnt get the chance to use it:(

just by kaaz for the s80

uk has same s80 box as jdm and has 15" wheels from factory

Ive just installed the s80 with shorter 4th and 5th gears.
Before, i had an s4c non-lsd box.
There is lightyears difference between the two. It pulls hard in every gear.

The only drawback is that it's a little high in the revs while cruising on the motorway...but tbh i can live with that.

The S80 98 Spec box comes on UK ITR's which are standard with 15" rims.

I liked the pull from gears 1-3 too but i could never get traction from 1st - prob needed a better suspension setup and geometry done right enough.

From what I have read the S80 box has a higher final drive, but the 4th and 5th gears are taller so the final drive doesnt feel quite as short as you may expect them to.

However 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the S80 are the exact same as the S4C box, so they are somewhat shorter.

I like the sound of this as I find the S4C box a bit too short. Im currently running 15" wheels with 195/50/15's. at 60mph I am sitting at from memory 3400 rpm. Drinks fuel like nobodies business.

I'd imagine the S4C box is also overall too short on most medium sized circuits, so you are highing extremely high revs in 5th?
