Show or Race car..?

Well I'd vote track, show cars aren't for me.

Track!! show is boring, all it is is willy waving, make the car fun to drive.

the thing is I bought the car for £700... meisterR coilovers for £250.. a rear lip for £20.. and a back box for £30.. something to make the car look nice but im saving money whilst spending.. i totally see where you're coming from.. i'll splash a bit of cash on it whilst i've got it but in the meantime i'll save for bigger and better.. but i wanna have fun at the same time.. as i've said previously.. somewhere.. i'd much rather practise and bin this than buy bigger and better and crash it and be buggered..
I didn't realise how strongly people were against people having a little fun.. aha.. xxx
Go have fun :nice: It is not bad to spend money on a cheap car. Some people would never spend money on a car like this, some would spend some money (you and me are in that group I think) and some would spend more money on it than a better car would cost in stock form. None of the above is a wrong decision but everyone has an opinion. Only sometimes some people forget it's an opinion and not a fact :p

You don't need to spend money on a car making it 'track' to enjoy it on a track.
So many people seem to think this and spend forever collecting parts and never ever see a single track
Yeh it might be a bit wallowy and not very fast, but check your brakes are in decent nick, your tyres have decent tread, get a helmet and book a novice track day. Cars weren't designed to just do 30 down a high street, you can still hve just as much fun in a standard car. Hell, learn to drive it properly in standard form and you'll be flying past everyone who's spent hundreds on mods they probably couldn't tell you why they bought, apart from the fact everyone else on the internet seems to get them too! :D

IMO, unless you're going to swap the engine it's going to be good at neither. Use it as a stepping stone towards more ncb/while you save up or whatever's holding you back from buying a faster, better car.

Get out there and have some fun. Find the limit of the stock car first then work your way into it that way.
If you get hooked(like me and nicole) you'll be collecting track mods before you know it lol

I have a friend who breaks civic and tegs, I could pass you on his details as he has some awesome stuff in sometimes. Just drop me a text on my mobile if you need some help or something.

:lol::lol::lol:

Dunno why people are still making suggestions, the OP is obviously going to do **** all with her car haha.

I don't think this forum is the place for you.

If you bothered to read, she's already got a few things ordered and on the way.

We all start from somewhere, take your negativity elsewhere pal. No need for it.

Got to say I wish my first car was an ej9. Even wish my 2nd car was an ej9.
Hell I nearly brought an ej9 to convert to a racecar when I wrote my first ek9 off. Couldn't find any good examples local.
Instead I had a saxo that I put vtr body parts on etc. waste of money but gave me knowledge of these things and kept me out of trouble.

You dont aye haha? And who are you? Youv been a member of this forum for about 5 minutes; Iv been on this board for over 6 years and while I often can be blunt, Iv also posted literally thousands of tech/advice posts.

This type of post, as pointed out by others besides myself, is a waste of time. Its the same as "Should I go turbo or k20?" if you have to ask, you're not going to do either.

But whatever, carry on sniffing around this new member because they happen to be female, 2slow2sensible.

Agree it does get tiresome of the same type of threads (perhaps we are showing how long we've been active members lol) but I'm not sure this is the same league as the k20 or turbo threads you speak of, the wording "racecar" is probably alittle off but I got her point as did everyone else.
Building a track car doesn't need to be expensive unless you want to go faster obviously. I've see plenty of £500 cars driving around track with the owners chuffed to bits with them. May not be as fast as me or the caterhams/other track focused cars but they are having fun with what they got.
To richer people we are sad/stupid modding civics. I mean I could have brought a nice porsche cayman with the money I've spent just on ek9s in the last two years, but I've had fun, learnt new skills and made new friends that just buying a faster car wouldn't have done for me.

Looks like the op will have to prove some people wrong and get the crash helmet on!!
Epic sitting on the fence post finished lol

If you need to ask people on the internet, don't bother doing either :nice:

Just putting this back out there. Do what you want to do, not what the internet tells you.

Also from someone who's spent quite a bit on an EJ9 over the years, don't bother.

Why a race car? are you planning on entering a series? if its just for the occasional track day I wouldn't be going mad on it. I don't see why it cant look good and be functional on a track. IF i were to start modding a ej9 or ek3 (id be getting a VTI) Sort out the brakes and suspension would be first, hub swap for a 282 brake setup and then some lowering springs or some budget coilovers (£600 is budget coilovers not £200!). maybe some decent aftermarket alloys 7" is the widest you'll want to go, otherwise you will start to need stretched tires depending on offset and stance is shite!.

I love to go to shows but really don't like showing the state my car's normally are in although love showing the way it can be driven on track :)

do whatever keeps you happy & start with small targets then work up no better way of learning than 1st hand experience

To 689R..

Yeah I won't do anything to my car.. :) xxx
