Lol I know!! I need to get rid of it and hide away some of the wires. Got any paint on your new cage yet?

Half way through doing it at the moment actually. Making a complete pigs arse of it as I do most times when I get a paint can out :))
 
Ordered up a Toyosport ali radiator from their ebay shop.

Took it out of the box and noticed this had broken off

So I've got to wait for either a refund or another radiator. It looked like who every had screwed it in made a right hash of it as there are marks to the nut.
 
Pre Ring trip update!

Still got a few little jobs to do on the car before I leave on Sunday!!

Finally got both seats in, Got another TRS harness for the passenger to fit on Friday

Got my ebay special Ali rad fitted, used a fibre washer on the drain plug aswell

looks superb mate, i had on of those radiators in my eg6 and they are decent for the money

I've got some more suspension parts to fit such as rear camber arms and toe arms. I also need to get busy with the hole saw and angle grinder!

Next part is going to be more power!! Im fed up of the b16 and not having a diff!

Update:

So this has now become a dedicated track slag. I picked up a ford ka as a daily lol. So I've started stipping down the EK in order to take all the sound proofing out and remove the carpets etc. Need a few more suspension bits then it will just be a quest for more power!

Can I cut out the centre part to the rear arch? and fully open it out?

Makes sense mate. Once you start to make the car a bit more focussed they're just a pain to use on the road.

Pop Kris a message on facebook about cutting that metal out. I know he chopped it out for Mike's EG6 and his old EK4 but both have pretty substantial cages. He should know whether it's likely to have any baring on chassis strength.

I know my 10 min journey to work was taking me 15minutes as I was having to faff with the harness lol.

Altho I miss :drive:

I'll drop Kris a message on there. If it does have an effect I'll just get busy with the holesaw again!

Hows yours holding up from the vtec challenge races?
 
Not too great atm I'm afraid. I run it out of pads at my last race so melted the front brakes and the front bumper's a bit of a state as I smashed both foglight pods out of them. Just been sitting at R-Motion ever since. Will hopefully get everything back together for Mallory at the end of the month.
 
Little update following this weekends work.

All the sound deading has now been removed! thank god!

Also got the passenger airbag out, its a weight! popped the cover off and put that back into the dash.

So I have made a start on some weight loss, Need to invest in a new angle grinder with cutting disc to do some more and tidy up what I have already done.

this is wicked mate and exactly what i wanted to do to mine (make it just a trackslag) but didnt like the idea of having all that money sitting and only using it on trackdays,

are you trailering it back and forth to track?

No for the 1st year i'll still be driving it to and from the track :( but its better than driving it everyday.

Im keeping all the bits of metal that I cut out so I can see how much weight has been taken from it.

Still need to remove the residue which is left from the sound deading, Any tips on how to get this off?
 
ah ok mate, yeah thats alot better than using it as a daily

So another update, but no pictures sorry.

I've just paid for my K20 swap, awaiting on a large shipment to come from Hybrid Racing then its off to R-Motion for it to all be fitted!

I can't wait for it to be back on the road!
