Evening all,
I was hoping you guys might be able to help. I've just got a speed converter/delimiter fitted to my Jordan, as I've put ek9 clocks in (and they read KMPH when first fitted). I've wired it directly up as per the instructions here:

http://www.ek9.org/forum/other-technical/650-kmh-mph-speedo-converter-delimiter.html

I've wired it in inbetween the ECU and the gearbox speed sensor (not inbetween the ECU and the clocks themselves).

Now the only problem is, that it's still reading in KMPH  It's getting power as it's reading a speed, be it in kmph (I disconnected the live feed, to test the power, and the speedo constantly read 0 as expected). It's obviously got the ground as it's getting power, and it's wired into the signal wire as I'm getting some sort of signal. I'd imagine if it wasn't getting a signal it would again read 0 on the clocks. If the chip was faulty, I'd imagine I'd get 0 on the clocks, or a random figure, not spot on kmph.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I'm at a loss as it's all looking hunky dorey with the wiring but not doing as expected :( Battery doesn't need to be disconnected for a duration after fitting or anything? Should just be wire in and away you go?

Thanks alot!

As per the phone conversation this morning . give that a try and let me know how you get on . i cant see you having any trouble after that . :)

OK, so swapping round the two cables that tap into the VSS cable didn't work... Everything is wired up correctly, if I disconnect the power or disconnect one of the cables tapping into the VSS cable (thus breaking the circuit for the VSS) I get no reading as expected, so the signal is going through the speed converter chip. But still KMPH :|

Has anyone ever fitted a speed converter between the ECU and speed sensor behind the gearbox? (so in the footwell, opposed to the engine bay)

I know alot of people fit them before the speed sensor plug on the back of the gearbox, but just wondering if people have fitted them at the other end, inside the car by the ECU. It's still the same blue/white VSS cable that's going into the VSS plug, so shouldn't make a difference surely? Or does it? Dunk, or anyone else shed any light?

Much appreciated folks :) Cheers.

All you need to do is fit it behind the clocks. Just screw the +, -, and sig out on the converter to the speedo head screws. Trace the sig wire back and cut the wire, connect the sig in on the converter to the car loom side.
If you get stuck just call me on 07867 900543.

Superb, thanks a million Dunx!

Will this still be limited to 112mph with wiring it in behind the clocks, or not (guess the question is, is it the JDM ECU or the EK9 clocks that limit the car to 112mph?)

Thanks again, solder iron out tomorrow
