Oh it's not looking good for me then! My renewals due in a few weeks (I'm still on the tail end of my old policy with the skyline) my current company are going to charge me £2150!!! I'm 22 (23 in march) and was gonna ring elephant since their online quotes were best value but now you've made me question it as I've not rung em yet. What did they say exactly? Also how many ncb points do you have?

thats weird guys . im on a traders but did a quote not long ago to see what i was .

i am 21 . 6 points . 1 ban . no ncb . and was gettin quoted £1450 that was the policy in my name and me as main driver but adding my mum as a named driver .

i will go try see where it was that quoted me in my emails

Well Elephant are quoting me online 900-1100 but that's against a 'vti-r import' will ring them during the week. The whole reason I got an EK9 was to reduce my insurance cost, how the hell can a 1600 hatch be the same a 2500 turbo RWD Coupe?

I'm 21 and insured on an EK9 through Bell for £640 fully comp.

Try: Bell, Admiral, Elephant but you'll have to phone and ask for '1.6 Type R (Import)' as I couldn't find it on the list anymore though I confirmed it's still on the system by phone during my renewal.

If not, give Greenlight insurance a try, they wanted £1500 for a K20 EK9 insured fully-comp with 3 years no claims and 21 years old.

i was only 19 when i got my nine and admiral insured me for under £1500 as the policy holder fully comp, in july just there.
I got it through the phone, paid in full. even did a bit of haggling on the phone :)
I think they might have tightened up a bit since then though.
What do they say when you phone??

If you want my details or anything so you can say to them on the phone "look you insure a 19 year old on an ek9, why won't you insure me" thats no bother. It might work. I phoned them nearly every other day for about a month to try and get insured, i guess they finally gave in as i was annoying them soo much ahah Keep at it and best of luck :))

wow, thats good man cause im 24 in a couple weeks :)D) and im 800 fully comp with sky, goin onto a traders policy though me finks :nice:

greenlight ftw, only company that would insure me (northern ireland) wasn't much ontop of my insurance for my vti and my renewal is going to be under a k. o i'm 23 with 3 or 4 yrs ncb cant mind which!

Just submitted a quote to greenlight, hopefully it comes back good!

How do you go about getting a traders policy? Don't you have to be 25?

They just said we don't insure that car but I don't to insure it as a vti R as I don't think it would be legit if you know what I mean?

Mid 22 I think I'll prob try that I'll nag them abit first

Also I'll give bell a call and Adrian flux and see what they say :)

When I was on the phone to sky I asked why they insured my mate on one at 24 and he lives like 5 mins down the road! But he does have almost max ncb.......

I did have quick glance on there site this afternoon but wasn't sure weather they were open.

Only get a traders if your a trader, they dont really work out cheaper, there only good for selling and buying or if you have a big work shop.

Im surprised Sky havnt insured you? how many points and claims have you got?

have you had an expensive crash or something to loose your ncb?

It is the fact they see "import" that immiadetely makes them weary of insuring young drivers under 25 as they are under the impression that it is a tuned 1.6 lol martin (mld22) on the forum is insured through admiral for around 1400 1 years ncb and main driver, i cant see how at 23 no one will unsure you thats well **** :(
