sync damage?

I just use land rover MTF94 and replce the transmission fluid at the same time as the engine oil and filter so every 2k miles

The engine oil is being pumped about the engine and fed through a filter to filter out a small amount of rubbish, although the gearbox the oil just sloshes about and has no filtration. There is a good vid with the CEO of Spoon telling you about this

The MTF94 is as good as the honda stuff which is spec'd for the car, last time i was £20 for a 5L container from Land rover which will do 2 changes, don't see the point of paying extra for the amsoil etc when the MTF94 feels very slick and if i'm going to replace it that frequently. when my car is cold, it feels notchy going to third BUT doesn't crunch, up to heat and the car shifts perfectly, just got to be careful for the first 5-10 minutes of driving

If you are changing the MTF to see if it will mask a possible syncro crunch then i would say that's just a temporary fix and you should really have the box opened up and looked at, yes it's an expensive option but nothing is even cheap with cars :((

Its just 5th gear gives a small crunch if you change gear really quick at high RPM. I only changed the gear oil 5kms ago with Genuine Honda MTF:(

iirc i read that 5th gear is right on the end of one of the shafts of the gearbox and so the box doesn't need to be stripped quite so much for 5th gear to be looked at...
