sync damage?

it's a last resort but be aware that a refurb may be the only way.... since it's being opened up, might as well spend a bit more money on a new clutch, flywheel and final drive ;)
yeh right, ill ask tom at tgm's if he accepts iou checks he he:p

if the LSD is stock, then yes...if it is not...it will still work in a pinch.

this oil basically hides problem/damage that is already there now (could be weeks or years before crunching comes back if it does actually go away at first), its not a cure but most common thing people do when crunches start

i suppose simple way (not accurate) to look at it is that it lubricates better than standard mtf and damage rate is slowed down

if this tranny fluid is gunna solve(or hide should i say) the syncro crunching problem does it take a certain amount of miles to bed in and do the job cos ive covered about 100 miles with it in now and the crunching hasn't improved at all.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If you don't notice any improvement after a full tank of gas, it's probably always going to be there until you pull the transmission and fix what's worn/wrong inside.

sorry to hear that, drive it until you cant live with it anymore or until you can afford rebuild then time for box to come of and synchros replaced

what youll find when box dissasembled is lots of of other synchros, seals etc are worn and best to be replaced as you not really payin anymore for labour as alreday being done just extra £ for parts

As iceman says replace as much as you can, had to do my box twice as I didnt replace the selector fork first time..

ok cheers guys, think ill save up for the refurb,3rd and 4th gears both crunch at high revs so ill get those 2 syncros and selector forks done,do you think its worth getting 2nd gear done at the same time incase that starts crunching soon? im guessing 5th gear synchro wont need replacing as that gear isn't really used for agressive driving?

Your tuner should advise best when he inspects the box. If you have the money replace everything :nice:

Not sure on the synchros as I didnt see them, MFactory could advise best. I did see the worn selector fork on the second build though.

New synchros are sharp...and shaped like /\ while worn ones look more like an "n." Your synchros may look fine but the thing to watch out for would be the synchro sleeve as well.

I would also advise replacing the input shaft bearing as well.

Get yourself down to TGM in Fleet, Tom will give you the best advice. Just down the road from me :nice:

You want this stuff:

2 can work in a pinch, but 3 would be best. Remember to rotate one of the wheels slowly during the fill to ensure an accurate reading.

Good luck :nice:

Is there any difference in these 2 apart from branding? Which should I go for?:nice:
