Terrible 1/4 time

Can't hear much in that video far too much wind noise. I'll aks again, what spark plugs and at what gap did you set them?

Thanks Murray I understand.
There was 3 camera angles, that one had the best sound. If you have a 5.1 surround sound system or decent headphones you can hear it properly.

As for what spark plugs and gap, I don't know... I remember Henry mentioning it to me (as he had to replace them for a colder spark) but not sure on the specifics bud.

I could hear the difference in the 4th gear. Doesn't seem to want to rev. If it was me I would sort that out, then try again.

Cheers Scott, got new HT leads getting sorted tomorrow, gona pull apart the coil pack and give it a good clean make sure everything is up to spec, find a nice quiet stretch of road and see what happens.

Pull your plugs and check them, get some feeler gauges or spark plug gap coin. The missfire your experiencing could be just down to too wide of a gap on your plugs. Given your boost level you'll probably want to be around .030" on your spark plug gap, you may even need to go more but try them at .030" first and go from there.

Thanks for the advice, but I have no idea on how to do what you just said :p

the spark plugs have been changed and configured about 5 times in the past year. The set that are on now had to be changed just last week by Henry before it's dyno tune.
So it shouldn't be a spark plug issue, but not ruling it out.

Search in youtube "how to gap your sparkplugs" your gonna need to know this, especially when owning a turbo honda!

what is the optimal gap for turbo honda, do you want a small gap?

You want to leave the gap as wide as possible so don't gap the plugs any tigher than needs be to prevent spark blowing out

what rpm does the turbo actually come on song at? from the vid i think i can just make out the turbo spooling just before the gear change. sounds quite late unless your not actually hitting WOT?

maybe henry mapped 1st 2nd 3rd and 5th and forgot about mapping the car in 4th gear

just a suggestion

Turbo kicks in around 4.5k

Thanks Vtec6000, will look into that

So apart from Murray who won't share his secrets lol, any launch tips?

can you explain what you are doing when taking off from the line?

you mentioned that you are slipping the clutch to stop wheel spin?

also in the video your cars is not running properly....take it back to henry as its embarrassing to be struggling to get out of the 15 second range with 360bhp

or take it to a third party dyno and have them do a reading on power/torque and air/fuel

it's gapped to 0.75mm Henry said.

Just replaced the HT leads, took off dizzy cap, gave the diodes a good scrub... scrapped off a thin layer of white crap.

Took it for a blast, no misfires so far... so looks to be running smooth.
Dizzy does need to be replaced at some point, bottom bolt was already snapped off so it's not secured 100%

Since you have a turbo build have you not thought about going Wasted spark instead of the dizzy? That what i use on mine and it has never missed a beat. That is over 5K miles anyways.

Also as said I would defo be getting the map looked at or go to a different dyno. I'm only running 307 bhp at the fly and mine would be well quicker then that. Mine is not for 1/4 mile stuff like. But just saying.

Hope you get it sorted out :nice:

cheers, would have to look into the wasted spark.

Map is fine, the problem of misfiring is intermitent and due to leads/coil pack etc not being changed in forever after sitting off road for about 2 years. There was major signs of wear in the dizzy when I pulled it apart last night.

next dyno day with clan japan i'll pop it on rollers.

I highly advice just going to see VTEC6000 - take it to someone who knows what they are doing ;) not saying henry doesn't, Just sayin..

Yeh he's over in Ireland but swap that brake set up for something a little more real world and less overkill like willwoods and you'll have spare money to go see him :D Job done :nice:
