Toda Spec B Camshafts

depends dyno and conditions of course,i am talking about dynojet

correct, i am referring to a dynojet aswell. i say we are both right 150-155 max

if i remember correct mine did 154,xx whp 100% stock with catalyst.
(i believe dynojets are good dyno cause you can compare with the UStuners)

Need some help here, if I put in Toda B or Jun 3 cam in my ITR valvetrain b16, and keep it running under 8400rpm with power fc tunned. Is the ITR valvetrain play safe in this area?

*Hightlighted for TodaB because personally I prefer Toda B, but if Jun 3 is working, I might get Jun 3 because I my friend is selling it*

I was speaking to TODA Australia and boy was i tempted... Woud cost me 7k AUD to get spec B kit installed and fine tuned with Hondata s300.

:p~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I even enquired about TODA's Individual throttle body injection kit... :p~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Almost 10K AUD includes port polishing etc.

In Australia the driveline loss is 25%. so stock B16B would be around 140whp.
The dyno's we mostly use here is DYNO DYNAMICS.

I heard Dynojets read out 15% loss through driveline loss. so would be around 155-160hp.

hmm, hp and bhp has some pretty big differences.

US hp is same as Jap PS
BHP is on it's own.
Kilowatts(KW) is what we use to measure in AUS.

actually, they all different...

185PS = 182.x BHP
136KW = 184.91PS

240PS = 236.02BHP

whats bullshit?

You said : "stock b16b dyno ive seen is about ~155whp"
I had stock. I am going on Dyno again on Monday.
I will see how much I got with what I have now, then with Skunk's stage 1 ( any difference ? )
I think stock "stock" will have more then 155whp around 160+ depends on condition and driving. Take some 18-20 years old boy who get type-r in his hands( I will run on V-tec all the way home) and some "old" guy with respect what does he have ( clean filters,oil changed,spark pugs. one word TUNE UP ) . Whos engine will work better? That's where engines loosing horses!

I've dyno'd my 9 on a DYNOJET the other day and it gave me an extra 20whp figure over a dynodynamics dynometer. Theres no point arguing about WHP because everywhere and every dyno is different. Stock whp in AUS for B16B on dyno dynamics is around 125whp, dynojet was about 145whp, so can't compare.

Manos: I don't think you've gotten over 200hp yet. If it was so easy, many Japanese tuners would have done it. Remember SPOON needed 10000rpm to make 200hp and every B16B in HYPER REV mag has not made over 205hp in 1.6L, all needed to be stroked to 1.8 and instantly gained 15-20hp. SPOON's Stroked 2.0L B16B made 240ps with massive torque figures

I had stock.

I had short AEM ITR 4-1 header , ITR B-pipe and Mugen Silencer with PCT ECU. Look what I had.

are we having a misunderstanding on what stock means? also what grade fuel are you running? was the pct stock or modified?

and like jugbugs said, every dyno is different, on the dyno we use we've built 2.0 vtecs with stock internals that couldent make more than 180whp but those same cars were much faster than a car that made 205 on a dynapack...

Yes it does over 200bhp. I beat an 190 bhp RX-8 easily on a straight, and a stock DC2 a car distance. There are a lot of guys on this site reported over 200 bhp with similar mods to mine.......And you miss something crucial Jugbugz. You did not replace your cams with aftermarket ones + other important bolt ons and head work. Unfortunately, your 9 is enough restrictive yet and the Power FC can't do much without these also. Note: My 9 still operates with a V-AFC, and before the end of this month I will install a Power FC(already bought it) so I expect much more also because my engine is healthy enough with 100000 km on the clock. If I'm wrong with what I said about your mods just correct me :nice:
And I don't think you have to rev 10000 rpm a B16B to make a lot of power even as N/A :D

Stock I meant : just had my engine drop in(swap as you know? PICTURES)
stock PCT ECU non-touched and a fuel was 89?
Ok I can agree about DYNO's , they might be different, I was saing I had what I had. I will be disapointed if it will be 155WHP.

Yes, my Ek9 is pretty much stock except pwer FC, intake, exhaust, however I wasn't refering to my car.

My point is that improving HP on a B16B base engine isn't as easy as on a base B16A and B18C. 10k rpm was just 1 of many examples that shows how hard it is to improve the B16B. The most I've seen with 1.6L in Japan was 200-205hp, capacity is the biggest limit for this engine, but still, 200hp from a 1.6 is 125hp/per litre is damn good :nice: which is better or on par with the F20C(S2000). Anyway, I don't know how much hp you would have got with the port n polish but with your S-AFC, theres so many reports that the stock ECU will gradually overwrite the S-AFC, thats just how crap S-AFC is... good thing you getting the Power FC.:nice: I'm just a bit skeptical with any figures above 200hp with your mods, the only sure way is to have it dynoed when it was stock and current figures now, BUT on the same dyno. But if you've really made more than 15-20 hp increase than I recommend everyone should mod their engine like yours :nice:

Beating a RX-8 is easy and a stock EK9 can do it, remember you have 150kgs advantage over the RX-8.

I've beaten a mildly boosted MY99 WRX by 5 car lengths rolling from 60kmph to 160kmph with a silencer on and was neck at neck all the way with a DC2R at the same time...that was pretty fun. :) remembering that I have 5% leak in compression in each cylinder. Also I've gained on a Holden/Vauxhual 360bhp 5.7L V8 1650kg sedan. And my friends B18C EK4 killed a RX7 twin turbo and stock EVO8 easily.:nice:

what the hell are you doing with 89 in the tank :shocked: my b16b was detonating on a stock pct with 91!!! but still glad to hear you have a strong motor, but we never know you might have cams, my friend just picked up a used b16a from hmotors online, we took it apart cause the thing was so damn fast and found a fully built head!!! :woot:

I've already mentioned how crap S-AFC or V-AFC are in my first posts on the site, its indeed, it messes up the whole engine timing.....:angry:

Yes but, even if its enough more heavy (very important) I would say that its newer car with a Rotary engine with a lot of torque and more or less similar hp, but its all about vtec I guess......:D

What is the My99 WRX and how much hp and torque(approx.) it makes?? Is it the normal 230 hp WRX??
when you say that your friends B18C EK4(N/A) "killed" an RX7 twin turbo and stock EVO8 you just refer to the lauch only, right?? Cuz is a bit strange to say that an EK4(even if powered by a B18C) can beat an RX7 twin turbo or EVO 8?? :nerv: It doesn't make sense to me! :shocked:

Yup! Vtec delivery is amazing and is what kicks butt!

It was a mildly tuned WRX stock turbo boosted with BOV. I don't know how much HP but easily won and did it over and over again about 3 times with the DC2R LOL:lol: Trust me, RX8s with 193hp arn't hard to beat because they are automatics, the 231bhp RX8 is harder with Manual.

Yes, my friends EK4 stock B18CR killed a RX7 and EVO7 or 8 and not just on launch, but rolling. He said the guy with the EVO was a shitty driver though. He did a 1/4 mile run of 14.0secs dead but with shitty suspension, shitty exhaust, stock motor and headers. There are some guys in Sydney with B18CR powered EK civics with stock ecu making 13.4secs 1/4 mile passes. It all depends on the driver, suspension, tyres etc etc. :nice:

It's the torque that makes acceleration, a 1.6L motor with 200hp can't compare to a 1.8L with 200hp. Thats why I'm stroking my motor and adding cams :D :nice:

Just looked up the Specs on the RX8.
-Manual RX8 231bhp 1354kgs
-Auto RX8 193bhp 1381kgs

So I guess you've got almost 200kgs advantage with the Auto. :)

Manual doesn't look fast... :( Looks a bit boring...
Is that the manual 231 bhp RX8????? :wow: That's awful!! That's why the 193 bhp auto is so slow. Its not 200 kg difference but 300 kg. Remember, EK9 weights 1090 kg :clap:
