Yeah. Looks great, too bad it's still gonna weigh around 1200kg's.

Where do I sign? I really really want one of these, I had an image in my head of the car I was going to design for production whilst doing my racecar project, and this is it. Same looks, same engine layout, I could swear they actually stole my thoughts!

It is tipped that Mazda are aiming to loose 100kg on the next gen MX5 to bring it under 1100kg, and given that this will be directly in competition with the Mazda, and that the original point was to provide a cheap lightweight RWD coupe, I don't doubt they could probably get somewhere near that goal.

This thing will be brilliant and I will be first in the line to put down a deposit when it is released! (Providing Subarus version isn't better looking.)

If this does come out and if its good its something I might want to get. :)

I'll take one in black with BBS wheels... :win:

Who cares how much power it comes with out the factory, no-one is in doubt how tuneable that engine will be, and the less it comes with from the factory, the less it will cost to buy, tax, insure etc.

Winner in my eyes, I'd be taking to a scooby tuner straight from the dealership for some high compression ITB'd goodness. Apparently the EJ20 is good for 300bhp NA, which is good enough for me!

Even better news:

We all know that Toyota teamed up with Subaru on its latest FT86 concept Jeroen posted about last week, but it looks like the rumored Subaru STi version of the car may be the one to wait for. According to Autoblog, where I found this image, the STi version of the car might be ready for the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show and pack a 250 HP EJ25 along with a rear-wheel-drive layout. I wonder if a turbocharged 300+ HP STi AWD variant may be on the cards too?

Link for that? The press release I read said that both manufacturers would only be using NA engines, this doesn't fit in with the design concept at all.

Plus, if you want 300bhp and AWD, get an impreza?

Read correctly ;)

Despite dropping all the information about its Tokyo-bound concepts, Subaru hasn't hinted at when we'll be seeing its version of the Toyota FT-86 coupe. Thankfully, Japan's Holiday Auto has stepped up to the plate to throw more fuel onto the fire with a subtly modified sketch of the FT-86 and some possible powertrain information of Subaru's first rear-wheel drive coupe.

According to the report (and a heaping helping of common sense), the Japanese rumormongers expect the STI version of the coupe to debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show (after the standard model is revealed next year), complete with Subaru's 250-hp EJ25 2.5-liter boxer. Similar to the dual-injected, 200-hp EJ20 fitted to its Toyota brethren, the engine will remain naturally aspirated, but a turbocharged version hasn't been ruled out.

In addition to a wider track and upgraded tires, wheels and brakes, expect the STI version to don a gaping front fascia and a sizeable rear wing, similar to the camo-covered mule we saw in the latest round of spy shots. If Subaru wants to compete with the rest of the high-horsepower sports cars in the U.S. and Japan, it better get cracking, because competition is fierce, and the only way it can compete is to keep the price down and the weight in check.

Fair play, 250bhp NA sounds pretty good actually. The thought of a turbo just spoils it though.

200bhp for the 'Yota sounds good too, much better than the 146bhp I saw!

Rumours currently abound are a Yamaha tuned EJ20. Sounds to me like a flat four version of the BEAMS engine in the Altezza. Now, if they updated that with VVTLi, which is for all intents and purposes, the same as VTEC...

RWD Integra anyone?

Toyota, stop teasing and build the bloody thing!

I agree Kozy looks brilliant...wish they would hurry up and build it! :D

Honda really need to get there finger out...

Can't wait for this. Hopefully ill be going to the launch of it with my work.

Around march next year its planned I think.
