Just bought a decat and on the add it stated it had a "true 2.5" bore".

I just measured it and it measures 60mm (2.35"?)

Am i wrong in thinking that true 2.5" means that the bore its self is meant to be 2.5"?

Just want to know before i speak to the company.

Thanks.

Thats what I thought as well.

yes 2.5 means thats the internal size of the piping mate whicj is 64mm i believe.

I emailed them and they said that the collector is 2.5 and that it's as near to a 2.5" decat as you can get :S

This is tegiwa btw.

Exhaust tubing is never measured in the bore, only the OD. So that is as close as you can get.

Or just go to a custom exhaust place, and they shall make you 2.5" ID piping all day long...

There arn't any actual true 2.5" systems avaliable only 60mm ones. Or you can buy the Mega Power R which is 70mm.

Best way is custom from the manifold back. :nice:

P.s Pipe sizing is measured as an Outside Diameter. Bit stupid really as the stronger thicker 1.5 and 2mm walled pipe actualy ends up at 60-59mm Internal Dia. when at the end off the day its only the Internal size thats important and 3mm diameter difference is more than you think when you work out the volume of a full system.

If you want to pay for them rolling 2.5" pipe, be my guest. Not worth the hassel.

Your downpipe will be 2.5" OD.

FWIW, tubing is measured on the OD, Piping in the ID

What are you talking about? What hassle?

Ive just had a full true 2.5" system made by a reputable fabricator in Scotland, no hassle at all...and not expensive.

Most if not all Exhaust fabricators will buy pipe off the shelf, meaning 2.5" Outer diameter. So if you wanted a true 2.5 system the exhaust place will have to roll and weld there own tube.
I think when people say a true system, its 2.5 tubing used throughout with no bottle necks to a smaller size:nice:

Just get them to make you a 2.75 OD Exhaust, probably be about 2.5" ID then
