Picked up a B18 last tuesday from a guy breaking his teg up in Birmingham, spent last thursday de-greasing and spraying it in Hammerite smooth silver

Apologies for pic quality!

Spent all of today, stripping out the carpet and giving the floor a new lick of paint to freshen it up, going to be leaving the carpet and rear seats etc out. I've sold my standard Recaro's and Momo steering wheel. I've got some fixed buckets going in and a suede deep dish steering wheel going in. Also got my new yoko prada spec 2's put on, on sunday... I've also got a new Fidanza flywheel to put on and some new gauges to wire up just to keep an eye on things! Will update as l go :nice:

Thanks for looking! :D

Russ...

I bet you were annoyed when you found that you had a b16a engine then. How did you find that out and why was it there? The B18 is going to be a massive increase in power plus the amount of weight your shedding sounds good. :nice:

was actually trying to sell the car and someone did a bit of digging about and found that out... yea to say l was 'annoyed' was an understatement, but hey ho onwards and upwards!

Cheers buddy, aaron, gaz and kris off the tgtt site were saying your motor is a bit rapid lol Hopefully mine will be nearly as quick lol

haha, yeah it goes some aright, Its a nice lively engine. You'll love the conversion. I'll keep my eyes peeled on this project.

Just an update! Got the B16A2 out today... what a mission lol took only a few hours to disconnect everything etc, only thing that would'nt come off was the sodding ball joint from the lower arm! Got around it by just unbolting the engine / gearbox from the mounts and shifting it over towards the drivers side, to give the extra clearance for the driveshaft to come out of the joiner driveshaft! Argh lol then found out the engine hoist would'nt go high enough for the engine to clear the front of the car lol Ended up placing some paving slabs under the trolley jack and jacking the car high enough to drag the engine out from under the front bumper!

Also found out that my engine mounts are just gone lol brilliant! Anyone have any suggestions as to uprated mounts? Don't wanna spend the earth but as i've got the engine out l may as well upgrade them...

Also my suspension needs replacing... the lower adjuster rings on my tein suspension (old stylee) literally broke off earlier as l was doing something hardcore lol Don't really think it's the safest thing running that suspension with the extra power and new mounts etc??? Any suggestions as to what to go for? Again don't wanna spend the earth on them, seen some D2 coilovers for approx £500 so l might go for those :))

But on the plus points today my new flywheel turned up

So now all i've gotta do is spend some time cleaning the engine bay and sorting out some new mounts then the B18 can go in! Quite a productive day me think! :woot:

Russ...

:nice:Russ, item received as promised. Thanks mate. All fitted and ready to go. Nice write up too, keep us informed.

Ben :thanks:

Cheers Ben glad you got it ok... take it, it went on ok?!?! Pics!!!

Like a glove. Will post elsewhere at some point, wouldnt want to steal your thunder :))

Nom nom nom!

Still wont be as qucik as the teg xD Anyways i'll be round Thursday mate for sure to give you a hand in cleaning the engine bay.

I forgot to say earlier, didn't the B18 come with engine mounts? You can use those ones fo sho.

Looks awesome so far mate! love teg wheels on EK9's Builds going well so far, B18 Ek9,s are quality little weapons :D

Cheers for the comments guys... ordered new BC coilovers from funky power this morning... came in at a good price, just got to pop over to see if l remembered to pick up the engine mounts with the new engine, if l forgot them i'm gonna be cheesed off lol was'nt really prepared to fork out for new suspension and mounts :( Gonna crack on with cleaning up the engine bay today, will post some pics later on :)

looks great and good luck with the rest! :) if you want new engine mounts get a set of 60A billet innovative ones off ebay for £210 all in from the states. Amazing kit. Stevenek9 and Jock9 also have them!! :)

Yea l was up till half two last night reading through posts about engine mounts and saw you two guys had them... Look a really sorted piece of kit! I am really really tempted to go for them but l was'nt expecting to shell out the extra cash for some mounts hence the reason i'm trying to find some good condition direct replacements first... otherwise i'm gonna be on first name terms with mr barclaycard lol and thats not too good!

Just get some second hands one mate from a breaker and stick some polybushed mounts in like I said when I text you. Be just as good as the innovate ones. But obveously wont look as good!!

Did some more bits and bobs today... Made up a din sized gauge holder as the one l bought l did'nt like at all... Recived my gagues yesterday and test fitted them into the holder l bought and it was'nt very good. The metal is far too flexible and the gauges don't sit in it very well at all. Made my own one up today out of some clear acrylic l had lying around and it's turned out really well... just a few pics

finished item next to the not soo good one...

Only thing l need to do on it now is find my spray glue and glue some dark acoustic carpet onto it just to finish it off, then apply some thin strips of velcro i've got to the back so l can fix it onto the dash... Thought velcro would be a good idea just in case l need to remove it at any point!

Also hammerite'd my inlet and got the dremal onto the the little fiddley bit's just so it looks that little bit better when it all goes into the car. Still need to do the fuel rail etc l don't have pics of those at the mo but my mate karl said he'll add his pics later on :)
