In need of some more 888s, and im looking at going wider when I eventually get myself a new set of wheels sorted and dont really wanna order twice.

my question is what size can i get away with on a 6.5j - I'm using 195/50 atm, and would like to go wider.. I've noticed the 215/50s are surprisingly cheap over the 205/50. would they fit and can I go any wider?
I'd quite like to move to a 7.5/8j wheel over the winter, so I'm guessing I might struggle finding a tyre suitable for both sizes?

215 strike me as abit wide for a 6.5J tbh.
I'd be worried about the front feeling abit "wobbly" should be fine on a 7j though so maybe worth a punt.

Another factor is how wide is a 215 r888.
I'll bet they are wider than 215...

Don't forget the 50 is 50% of the width,

Someone else on here was running 215/50's and had to smash the **** out of the inner and outer arches as they are like balloon tyres.
215/45 would be better but likely more expensive

Might have a set of 8" Rp01's forsale if you decide to go wide id split them if i had a buyer for both sets

I was planning on running 225/45/16 on my eg will need to lift the car up a bit tho

good point! dont think 888s come in 215/45 :(

215/50/15 are only half a millimeter larger in diameter than stock EK9 tyres, so I'd guess with the right offset they should be OK?

Although that may be how it works out r888's are a different kettle of fish...

215/50/15 r888's are huge

Im in the same sort of situation for the mx5 and pulsar, It seems an 8" wide wheel is a must when considering anything 205-225 in 15". Gathering from what Mx5 track lot claim the likes of even a 205 will run far better on 8" wheels, as a 6.5"-7" will cause to much sidewall (bulge as such) giving more vague steering.
Seems only choices you have are to just make the most of a 195-205 on a 6.5-7" wheel or bite the bullet and buy some wide 8-9" wheels and go 205-225.

P.s Rossco can you sent me details of the RP01's you have for sale, might be interested.

The widest I ever heard people fitting on a 7" rim was 205mm. So I would expect a jump to 7.5 or even 8" for a 215 to 225mm.

I was converting the rim sizes into mm to better compare rim and tyre widths. Considering 6.5 is considered a good size for 195mm rims, converting 6,5" to mm = 165mm!

Think I'm just going to try and make my 195/50s last and get some 8j and 225/45s for them. such money :'( haha

225/45 on an 8j looks alright...

I run 225/45 all round.

7j rear, 7.5j front. Fronts are perfect on the rim, but rears are a tad too small

What wheels will you consider using?

TE37s are the only wheels I can find 8x15 5x114.3 annoyingly
I love mine but I wish there were more options
I'm trying to tell myself its worth it because they're seriously light! The difference between my te37s and ek9 wheels is crazy.

16x8 easier to find, seriously chunky wheels though with a 225/45/16.I'll let you know if I think it's worth it when mine arrive.
Stiffer suspension and abit of arch work and I'm hoping to keep a half decent ride height as that's one of the main downfalls of 16" IMO
End up looking like a 4x4 to stop the wheels rubbing the inner wing....
If you can afford to buy 15x8 go for that. I'm not sure which tyres are available in 15" in a 225 though? R888 and A048 I assume.
