my braided hose burst whilst at germany luckily it, was when i was static.

but does anybody have any information or where to get some from or any info atal ??

thanks

Wow. There must be a motor factors there somewhere. Just get a oem runner one for now. What make was the broken one?
If your there for a few days I have a pair of used oem I could post you.
Dunx

Hel lines are what im using. We have hopefully found somewhere that may be able to do it for me.

we leave tomorrow

Oh dear. I'm using hel lines. Hopefully I don't get the same issue when I'm at the ring,

I've been warned away from HEL lines. Lots of reports of split lines.

Stoptech is what you need if your upgrading from OEM.

Its all been sorted now. Have to collect at 10am tomorrow shame I wont be able to go round the ring tonight on my last day :(

Was it a front or rear line that split?
I'm running hel lines and the look slightly stressed around the bracket that bolts on to the hub upright, the outer coating has cracked around that area also

I'll have to check mine tomorrow. Would it be better to remove the holder and run a cable tie or something?

Thought about cable ties but not sure if it's a good idea to leave them a bit slack or not

I'll have a look at mine tomorrow. I seem to remember the lines at the front not wanting to sit at the correct angle the first time I installed them. Came up and hit the inside of the wheel. Pretty sure I slacked the lines off and then run them correctly and retightened them.

Hopefully you get it sorted! I had Hel lines on my old integra and they burst when I sold the car to a member on here but luckily he spotted the fluid in his driveway

I have also heard of other braided lines failing and they are always too long

This is why I have stayed with OEM rubber lines on my track car with uprated fluid and master cylinder stopper, brake pedal feel is great

Was it the front or rear that burst? As far as I can tell rears are normally fine,

Considering swapping to some new oem front rubber lines now

Me too. I'm at the ring on the 16th and obviously do not want a brake line failure! Surely hel cannot sell a product that dangerous?

After some googling it appears to be caused by turning the steering and the lines get pulled where they don't slide through the bracket easily.
My solution will be check the lines are okay. Then grease the lines and bracket so that they slide freely.

You are right it was the front line, oem are a safe option in my eyes.

Im sure there are also plenty of people who haven't had a problem with braided lines, but with brakes you need to be 100%

well after my 4th lap over 2 days on the ring, i parked up and noticed a stain on my rear tyre, thought it might be water. came back 1 hour later and it was still there! couldn't think what it was at the time. Was going to have one more lap before going home but luckily i didn't. woke up next morning and there was a puddle-ish in my rear wheel, so i decided to pump the brakes to see if it was the brakes first bump heard a loud band and the front completely exploided!

speaking to the people that are fixing my car (something tech ? part of the rent4ring company) they said they have had 4 people this week and 1 other civic today looking for brake hoses as their braided ones have blown.

this is not a thread to say stay away from braided hoses atal, but im going to stay with rubber ones purely for the fact you can see when they are wearing and old, which metal ones you can't.

Wow ****.. glad you were stationary! now I feel really uneasy about hels lines got them on mine! wonder why the rear one just went like that ?? can understand now, why the fronts are prone to it which I will be getting a tub of grease tomorrow & seeing to asap! they not upto the track abuse, heat distortion & pressure combined too much for them to withstand ? surely hels would have done extensive testing to ensure the product saftey, something they 100% cant get wrong !

I purchased a set of goodridge lines for my tracknight at Knockhill (as id heard the stories about HEL), and on the way home I lost my brakes. Noticed that the fluid was leaking out at the banjo for the new lines and the hard lines. Scary! Was easy to spot as i was using ATE Superblue

Strange thing was that I bled the brakes, done 100 miles before leaving for Knockhill and the car was great on track….brakes performed lap after lap!

However when I got the car on the ramp I managed to get another few turns on the thread.:confused:

All seems to be holding well now, but bit strange. Need to keep an eye on it.

Not saying that Goodridge lines are poor, but a little strange in my case.

its really scary to know that these lines fail so often

heard stories about hel as well as goodridge, so i really dont know what im going with as its definitely an upgrade i want to do. ill probably end up taking the plunge and going with endless swivel racing lines

it mostly has something to do with poor installation though; but still, this really should not cause complete and instant structural failure on an important part like that

staying the frack away from hel, thats for sure
