Visiting Japan

I don't have a mobile with me, dread to think of roaming charges.

I am in Kyoto however, and yeah wi fi isn't very wide spread!
Just looked around the market and had a stroll about, place has only just woken up where as I've been her since 6.30am (arrival time of night bus from Tokyo)
I'm here til Tuesday night when I catch bus back up to Tokyo, was cheaper at 3,800yen  not sure what I'm doing now til then...
I'm staying straight opposite Kyoto station, so pretty central to everything and easy transport about.

Emptied my PM box also, let me know if you see this and when/were to meet :)

No updates lately! What else are doing or have done? Miss Japan, would love to see some pictures of your travels there.

I got home yesterday :(
Did tokyo, kyoto and Osaka.
Tokyo auto salon, honda collection hall, twin ring motegi, spoon, type one, feels, seeker and some temples. Looked around main tokyo areas and some museums.
Ill try and get pics up soon chaps, takes ages to get them onto photobucket, have nearly 1000 to sort through!

It was nice meeting you Jake :), hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip. I got back Thursday night so still a little jet lagged lol. I will get some pics up of some car stuff

You too mate,
Glad your all back okay :D
I still haven't got any pictures up here!
Being lazy with it :)

Ok I warn people, this is going to get very picture heavy! :p

I've sorted out a few of the more interesting car related pics I took, although I wasn't really there for car things so theres not that much really.

I'll try and do it in order of when the pics were taken, also some were taken on my camera and some on my phone so I apologise for the varying quality

Pretty much the first morning I was in Tokyo I visited Spoon and Type One as they were literally a two min train ride away

Spoon sell this S2000 package as a complete car, unfortunately the guy I was speaking to didn't speak much English and he had to rush out so I didn't find out how much it would cost or how much power it was putting out etc. He did tell me that the whole car gets rebuilt though with major work done to the suspension, brakes and engine.

And of course the famous EF Civic. For some reason they didn't seem to like me taking pics of this but I got a sneaky shot in anyway

Over to Type One and when I got there they were pretty quiet, only the one customer car in, this S2000.

Some gearboxes on display...

And then on to the upstairs showroom which has a few lovely S2000s, A standard NSX-R and of course a few of their race cars

Now that was it for my first Type One visit (I went back at the end of my trip to ask some questions lol)

Found this nice FD2 parked outside the sumo arena in Tokyo

And this R33 not too far away

I noticed this Delta Integrale parked outside my hotel in Kyoto. I got a nice view of it from my rooms balcony so got a photo

Then when I was in Osaka I decided to visit a Super Autobacs store. I'm so envious! I wish we had such things inthe UK! lol. So took a few pics of a small amount of the parts available instore.

When I stepped out of the store I found this in the car park. The picture really doesn't do justice to how beautiful it is. Those are also some of the largest brakes I've ever seen on a road car. They must be around 15/16" discs...

I visited the Mazda factory in Hiroshima. I wasn't allowed to take pics in the factory itself for obvs reasons but got some pics in the museum.

I've always thought these looked quite fun:

And my favorite Le Mans car of all time:

Here is a prototype hydrogen powered rotary engine

Then I was back in Tokyo again and found myself back over at Type One to ask some questions. They had these down to work on. I believe the black and white one is a customer owned/Spoon run car

And if you ever wondered where Spoon place the cat on some of their more race orientated exhaust systems...

DSC_0387_zpsf4739428.jpg

And then I was off around the corner to Seeker, annoyingly both times I went they were closed but the second time they had these parked outside...

And then on my last day I went to the Toyota Auto Salon in Tokyo where they basically show off all their concept cars and premium models. I noticed that in Japan they have a lot of very big luxury Toyotas and Nissans which we don't get in the UK. I had a sit in some of the Toyotas here and they are very nice inside, full leather interior inc dash etc. Cost a fortune though. Anyway here are some pics of the more interesting cars there

And thats pretty much it in terms of car related pics from me. I will start a new thread to let people know, but one of the questions I asked the guys at Spoon when I went back the second time was about their ECUs for B series. I personally don't have one but I know quite a few people on here do so to clear up a fairly common question I thought I'd ask what parts its been mapped to be used with. Basically it has been designed with a bit of scope for variation in set-ups, but is intended to be used with anything from completely standard to intake/exhaust upgrades. BUT please be careful as I asked why some people were having problems with their engines running lean after installing. It has been mapped with 100 octane fuel in mind (premium pump fuel in Japan). Do not use on anything less than 98 octane and even with 98 I was told your engine should be in excellent condition and not pushed hard when using this fuel so really it needs at least 100 octane fuel to run properly
