Hey folks, thought I'd share this. You've probably already seen one I put back a while ago but now I've made a few changes so I'd thought I'd see what the difference is. Can see the engine doesn't shake as much, but I can tell you there is definitely cockpit vibrations lol. New gearbox is all the difference though haha

Before:

OEM B16B w/ Standard S4C and standard engine mounts. Ran a Spoon Sports ECU, a bit of a wet surface and on flat road

After:

OEM B16B w/ S4C (M-Factory long first, ATS 3rd, 4th and 5th gearset, Spoon Sports 1.5 LSD) - recently rebuilt; Spoon Sports engine mounts w/ inserts. This time I ran an OEM ECU, road surface was not as well but colder, road was a bit more uphill. Exhaust and intake still the same.

Quite cool how the manifold glows lol. Also excuse the hesitation on 3rd gear on the second run lol

Cheers :)

That's quite a lot of manifold glow for a short blast, could be running lean...

Notice how it doesn't do it in the first vid with the richer spoon map

Love how the Vtec kicks in ! great videos!!

Do it Keith!

B16 - do you think the sump would have been a factor as well? My oem sump was badly dented and the engine burnt quite a lot of oil. Swapped it for a Spoon one and now it's not burnt a drop..

That's a bit weird,
The glowing could be down to your ignition timing being incorrectly set or maybe a slight fueling issue causing higher exhaust gas temps.

Some one else may know better but to me it seems to glow quite a lot for a n/a car on just a small blast up through the gears

Vtec crossover is very agressive i love it..
what is that blinking light on the firewall ?
glowing manifold so soon maybe leaning out or timming issues like others are saying. ..

Looks like another GoPro, recording

Love it man. Definitely hear the difference from the newly built box. Awesome.

I think the blinking light may be an alarm?

On the 2nd video, where the circular weld is you can also see a red light reflecting at the same rate as the one towards the rear - definitely a gopro ;-)

Wow that does glow pretty quick. Barely a run up through the gears and it's glowing red hot.
Imagine what would happen on track?

It was recorded with a iPhone 3gs with a suction universal phile holder. Open video via youtube says in description.

It is quite cool eh? BTW it was recorded with a GoPro Hero 3+ no suction cups were used, it's actually a sticker. The description in the first video was a bit of sarcasm :\ totally forgot about that, prob why I got a few dislikes lol.

But anyway, I did notice how when I went to take the GoPro out, this time round it was really warm compared to last time!

Cool video…new engine mounts made a big difference. Were the old ones worn, or is that the difference between oem and spoon?

First video there is a lot of movement.

Differences in mph in different gears between 2 gearboxes?

slightly longer 3.070 ratio 1st gear
standard 2nd
then the gear ratios for the ATS kit are 1.652/1.358/1.033

mph wise should be as follows with the standard rev limit and 195/50 tyres (oem/this box)

40/42
61
88/78
116/99
152/125

lose a fair bit on the top end but the box suits a B16B nicely!

cool vid!! need to try the same on the M3 and capture the airbox note
