Hi,
I don't know if you know what could be wrong, but the Vtec on my B16B kicks in at 6400-6500 rpm but not 6000 rpm. The oil is good.
Do you have any idea what this could be?

doesnt that make it enage vtec 'harder' ?

yeah as external blue says, check your ecu is standard, car run ok?lumpy idle?

sorry if i sound dumb.... but most of the aftermarket ECU's i see actually lower Vtec...
for instance spoon = Vtec 5100 Rev limit 9100...

by all means still check though dude as it could be chipped or something.

It has a stock ECU, The only thing I find strange with the engine is that it has no rev limiter, it stays in the same revs 9000 and doesn't cut on/off. If you know what I mean.
That only leaves me checking the solenoid.
How can I see if it is dirty?

This is really frustrating, I have to change gears in 8700-9000 rpms, if I don't do that it goes out of vtec range.

Ive got a b16b in my ej9 and same the vtec only kicks in at 6400-6500ish rpm. But i find once vtec is engaged it pulls pretty good!

i dont knw if this cud make dat happen bt if u are running a different gearbox for example s80 or s4c with 4.7 cud this also happen or get a lend of ecu nd try it and see.

I have the original gearbox,
It's a B16B swap with everything in an EG5,
It doesn't rev past 9000.
I'll check the solenoid tonight
Do you think I should get a reading on the ECU?
I work at Honda in Iceland, they don't have a clue about what the problem could be, but they don't specialize in vtec cars as they don't have a lot of problems with them here in Iceland.

thats just daft,, its the same brand and one of their cars, they cannot just not specialize in it! **** if i took my honda to a Honda dealer and they said that they dont specialize in it id be like WTF, you made the car!

lol you make it sound like a chore that you can only rev to 9000RPM...
what mod's do you have to be revving that high...

my ek4 pulls really hard and i change gear at 8300....

Before my EK9 was remapped my vtec engaged at 6200 so may just be a little out. Give the IACV and Vtec solenoid a clean out and maybe adjust your rev counter and it will be all good! :)

OK - But you're saying it not cutting fuel at the rev limit? So you can just put your foot to the floor in neutral and the revs will just stick at 9k without bouncing?
