For cheap and just the odd track day I'd go for EBC yellow. Had them on my car and I've only just outgrown them really. Mines more track than road which is why I have a stronger pad.
I'm in the same boat looking for pads,
I want something good that won't overheat the discs and cause them to crack,
I always seem to have the same issue regardless of what brand disc I use,
Could be the pads, or your braking technique? I used to overheat the yellows very easily because I wasn't on the pedal hard enough for a short period, just on them softer for a longer time.
On my wilwoods I went for performace friction 97 £175 race pads
